Power supply not working consistently. Xbox charges way too much to replace something that ...

I am very frustrated. My Xbox has been having issues with the power supply recently. Sometimes the console will not turn on. Sometimes it will. It helps to reset the power supply, so I know that the power supply will be gone completely soon.
I came on here to get a replacement sent to me because I have not had the Xbox One too long and it is under warranty still. They want you to send the part back first before they send you a replacement. How stupid is that? First off.... who knows how
long that will take? So... I cant use my xbox at all while the supply is in transit. So... at minimum, I expect it to take 3 weeks. 1 week to send it, 1 for them to process the request, and 1 for them to send it back. This is if they are fast about
it, but most places aren't. So... probably 4-6 weeks is a more realistic time range. During this time... I lose a month of Xbox gold.... all the free games I could have downloaded during that time..... and countless hours of entertainment. So..... I
am really paying more than that to get this item that is SUPPOSED to be under warranty replaced. Secondly..... They ask for 35 dollars to replace it. What part of a warrantable issue requires payment?!?!!?!? That is if you send them yours first... and wait
for them to return it... then you have to send them your damaged one. If you don't want to send them your damaged one... you can have it replaced for 50 dollars. I can go to gamestop and buy one for 70 bucks no waiting no sending mine back etc. That
is almost 1/3 of the price I paid for the unit itself again.... let me point out this is a unit under warranty. I have been a loyal xbox customer for YEARS. I still have my original xbox... we have 2 360 consoles... one for me one for my husband. And
now a One. Well, after this, I will no longer buy an xbox product. Clearly there is no warranty on their products. Just a discounted price to replace it. I will be switching to PlayStation. They don't even charge to play online... so it is cheaper
anyway and it seems they have a larger network of players and also seem to get more games released for their console. I also see it has a larger resale value, not that I ever do get rid of my consoles... but still... if I ever did, I don't mind sending
my broken part back. I don't even mind giving a credit card number to charge a new power supply on if I did not return the broken one. Kind of like a deposit. But I should not have to pay to replace something less than a year after I bought it because
it is faulty... and certainly not send it in first. Xbox, your customer service really is poor if this is the way you treat loyal customers.

    :)

    Xbox one power supply issue

You can order a replacement Xbox One power supply from the Xbox Online Service Center. Console registration is required to replace the power supply under warranty (the power supply warranty is the same as your console warranty).

  3. xbox one Power supply very noisy

    DraftyCrawdad,

This isn't normal. If your console is still under warranty then your power supply should be under warranty as your power supply warranty is the same as your console warranty. Just go to
http://myservice.xbox.com , register your console if it isn't already, then replace an Accessory, and select power supply. If it wants you to purchase it, click on the "Disagree with warranty status?"
link, then select "Start a Chat", and have
    this reference (Solution 8)
handy that specifically states your console/power supply warranty are the same. So this should be covered.

Oh... btw.... let me point out that I said the power supply is failing not dead yet. I can still use the console if I unplug the power supply and "reset" it. So at least if Xbox could send me one, I could use the dying one until it came in. Then send
the dying one to them when the replacement comes in. That way I am not losing out playing my game, or my month of gold membership, or the chance to download the free gold games while I am waiting for it to arrive.

    Power supply issue.

By the sounds of it, the amount of current going into the power supply was too much and it basically fried the power supply.. So it appears that you will have to replace the power supply..

12 volt 16.5 amp power supply with a 12 volt 12.1 amp console.

To simply answer your question, yes. That would supply too much power and would result in damage to the console. It is recommended that you use the power supply that originally came with your console when you purchased it. (if you are replacing it,
replace it with a power supply with the same rating and specs as the original one)
