Power supply has dim orange light

When it first started doing this I would just unplug cord from brick wait a bit plug it back in and it was fine. Woud happen randomly sometimes within a week others a couple months. Now when I plug it in it will light up bright orange for a a very short
time. Half a second or so then its a dim orange light when its dim it will not power the system no response whatsoever. Systemis way past warranty it was first or second shipment when it was released. Just wondering exactly what is going on with power supply.
Maybe there was a recall? If not i plan to open it and repair worst case I gotta buy another one anyway

My Screen has gone Blank .

verify light on power supply , if blank screen and power supply light is white or orange, issue is with console, try press and hold eject + power buttons at the same time, if does not work, another wall outlet, if power supply has no light, its defective

The external power supply has detected a fault. The power supply has several built-in safeguards to help prevent damage to either the console or to the power supply itself. The power supply will turn itself off under the following conditions:

•When there is too much current

•When the voltage is too high

•When the temperature is too high

Under these conditions, the light on the power supply will turn from green to orange or to red. Or, the light will turn off. When the power supply light is green or orange when it is connected to the wall outlet, the power supply is functioning correctly.

Is it plugged into a surge protector? When you unplugged the power supply from the Xbox One, and unplugged it from the wall, does the light stay on?

You have to wait for the light to go out. Then plug it back in to your Xbox One, and then plug it in to the wall/surge protector. Wait 2 mins and then turn it on using your controller.

If all else fails, I'm sorry to say you maybe best to set up a repair with MS.

 

Without numbers, any reply can only be based in speculation. One reason for failure can be something that trips an overvoltage protection circuit. Or a part in that circuit slowly failing - a threshold voltage is slowly changing.

Without numbers, then shotgunning is the only alternative. If a failing overvoltage circuit exist, then replace the power brick - and hope.

 

yeah its pluged into a surge protector, yes when i unplug it the light stays on. when i unplug and wait for it to go out i plug it in and its orange for a few seconds then turns white, when i turn xbox on it comes on the brick flashes orange and then goes
black. i have to unplug for a few mins then try again with same results. extrashoe8, what numbers do you need? ill test

 

decided to open it and see whats going on. the bearing went out on the fan. other than that its fine.

 

I know this is a year ago but if it's connect to Xbox and it dims then it may be the power supply dying. You'll need to buy another power supply but first party product only.

 

I have the same problem, the power tripped last night when I open my xbox it refuse to open and the Power supply light is Orange. Is buying a new power supply a Solution? can it solve my problem?
