  1. Power supply from Africa to Canada

Hi, Purchased an Xbox Kinect while in Tanzania, although unable to play online in Tanzania...Bummer. Now back in Canada, but the power supply is different? Can I just buy another power supply and plug it in? Does it has to have other things change to
have it playing in Canada? Where can one purchased such item in Canada? Does it have to come directly from Microsoft Xbox store?

Any ideas, suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    :)

What country is my Xbox from?

The Xbox 360's have had 5 power supply changes. The original 360 had a 203, 175, and a 150 Watt power supply. The 360 Slim uses a 135 Watt PS and the 360E uses a 120 Watt.

If your is the Americas Region (Which is Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and the United States) then you would have 120V@60Hz.

In the Americas region, you may have a two-prong power supply that has a two-hole power cord or a three-prong power supply that has a three-prong power cord. The part of the power cord that connects to your electrical outlet is the same for Canada, Colombia,
Mexico, and the United States. But that part is different for Chile.

    Supported game regions

    (Note GR means Game Region)

    GR1 : NTSC

North America and South America (United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile and Brazil)

    GR2 : NTSC-J

Asia (Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan)

    GR3 : PAL

Europe, South Africa, India, Australia and New Zealand

Power supply from Africa to Canada

You are using the Kinect for a standard 360 not a Slim right?

If it´s a Slim you do not need to use a power supply for the Kinect.

If it´s not the Slim you just get a official Kinect power supply and it should work.

  5. Hi there.

The Xbox setting is either PAL 60 or PAL 50. My North American TV doesn't have these settings. I connected the Xbox to the TV with the cable from another Xbox console I had. But the colors in Xbox are all gone... everything is grey/black. So I removed
the 3 prongs cable- white, red and yellow ones... and put in a HDMI cable instead. The colors are back on. If I put the Xbox movie on hold... and restart it, the volume is gone. So I have to restart the Xbox, switch cables again... and restart.

Then it is back working again. So my question is... without confusing too many peoples... how and what do I need to properly set up an XBox from overseas... to a North America power voltage standard and how do I have my Xbox with PAL 60 work with my north
american TV settings without creating more problems.

Do I need different cables, a step up converter or just regular Xbox cables. Do I need it to work better with HDMI cable instead of the S-video cable. Thanks

    Xbox power supply

If the power supply is for the US with 120V, then it should work. Beware however, that Microsoft doesn't officially sell the power supplies. So in most cases you'll find third party power supplies that might not work as an original Xbox One power supply.

    You should try to
    contact the official support
to order an original Xbox One power supply from Microsoft. From the contact options choose the Hardware & Network category and choose that you have trouble with an accessory. Chat with the support and request an US power supply.
If you tell them the serial number of the console, and do not mention an US power supply specifically, you might get an 230V power supply for South Africa again.

where can i purchase a replacement power supply in the Randburg area

    Good day

The power supply is a bit hard to find in South Africa. You can check with xmods.co.za they an online retailer that should have in stock.
