Power supply fan noise

Has anyone found a solution to the power supply fan noise issue other than powering the system down completely every time? My fan is making so much noise that even when playing with the volume up it is still audible. I contacted support and they want $35
to replace it because it is two months out of warranty. This is obviously a known issue per the thread below. My other Xbox had a disc read issue. I can't believe that I'm two for two now on hardware problems. I also can't believe they want to charge me
for this issue. At least they replaced the faulty disc Xbox. I was happy with the support I received on that issue. I'm hesitant to spend money on replacing a faulty power supply with another cheaply made one that will probably have the same problem.

Depends what you mean by rumble

If in instant-on mode the power supply fan is meant to run 24 hours a day.

I can hear the power supply fan but it doesn't sound like a rumble noise. It's more like a hiss.

The xbox360 Power supply made a similar noise so I assume it's normal.

 

This has happened to me and was very concerned. It happened even when I was not playing for very long. The problem was that dust was gathering on the power supply so the vents were getting plugged and I was playing Minecraft for hours. I vacuumed it and
it hasn't had another problem since.

 

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately cleaning the power supply didn't help. The fan still continues to make a loud sound. I went ahead and ordered another power supply since I really didn't have a choice. Hopefully the next one is more durable.
