Power supply buzzing noise

My power supply has a very annoying buzzing noise when my Xbox One is set to instant on.

I believe there is a fan inside the power supply and that is where the buzzing is coming from. Why don't the fan turn off when the Xbox is turned off/in standby (in instant on mode).

This is very annoying and I am not able to use instant on mode.

Will this be fixed?

Hey guys! This thread is kind of old, so if you could make your own thread detailing your issue, that would help us out a lot! Then we can help you individually.

 

That doesn't sound normal. This is a hardware issue, so no, it won't automaticly be fixed. You aren't the only one having this problem.

If it really annoys you I would suggest calling Microsoft Support so see what they say about it and maybe you'll get a new Power Brick or you might have to send the old one in for repair.

 

My power brick does it.

My friends power brick has started doing it too.

As my console is in my bedroom I don't use instant on because of the noise. When the room is silent the fan can be annoying.

I don't think it can be fixed by a dashboard update as i'm not sure if the console could actually control the fan in the power brick.

If you bought your console from a proper store not an online one and it's still under warranty you could try getting your console exchanged for a new one and hope the power brick is quieter on that one.

Sending the power brick off to MS though just seems a lot of hassle which is why I use energy saving mode instead of getting it fixed.

 

I only started to notice this noise on mine since the september update (which has also been causing my console to turn itself off shortly after boot).
