    Power Supply/Brick Not Working?

I was in the middle of using the Xbox One Console, when a sudden pop noise came from, what i believe is the power supply/brick. I have attempted to fully unplug the brick for well over 10 seconds, per your troubleshooting page's request, as well as it is
plugged in to a wall outlet, and I have even attempted a separate outlet than the one I was initially using to power the system.

I am unaware of the issue happening before with the console/power supply, however I would like to express my discomfort for the issue, as I have previously been a customer with Microsoft for it's console market since the earlier release of the Xbox 360,
up to current, even still owning the final model release (E), and, though my E is still working, I was very dissatisfied with the fact that I had multiple issues since the beginning of my journey with this company.

I had the Arcade Model go out at one point for a graphical error, I had two of the Slim Models just no longer power on, and now I am experiencing power issues with this Xbox One console, which is making my anxiety over the possible issues not any better.
I also have already sent in 1 wireless controller for repair/replacement, since I had purchased this Xbox One.

I have owned it for over 2 years, and the third year (final year of the warranty, and luckily I bought the extended warranty) is already into play. The last thing I want to deal with, is another one of Microsoft's consoles living to literally just outside
of their warranty expiration dates. I have, since first playing an Xbox 360 in 2005 (Oblivion and Crackdown), been a big Microsoft fan, to the point of literally investing hundreds of dollars in games, accessories, and the different consoles even, and I somehow
feel that I, as a consumer, am being taken advantage of on many cases that I have had to deal with your customer support, as far as the sheer ignorance of some of the technical support staff, down to the fact that I have had to pay for things I feel I should
not have, such as for the shipping of my wireless controller to be serviced, when it was purchased with the Xbox One Console, and the extended warranty was purchased on the grounds that it covered the whole purchase (Everything that came in the box when I
    bought it).

I fear this issue could lead into an underlying issue I had with one of the previous Xbox 360 Models, where my power supply/brick stopped working at one point, and once it was working again, the system's power/hardware just simply stopped working, which
I still believe to this day is due to the faulty brick your customer support refused to acknowledge was an issue, when it was still under warranty.

    :)

How can I purchase a new power supply for XBox 360?

My power supply "brick" has apparently gone bad. When I turn on the console, the brick starts to get hot, the red light comes on and then turns the console off. I do not want to purchase some generic power supply that probably will not last very long.
I would rather purchase a genuine Microsoft XBox power supply (the newer slim power brick). Any ideas where I would go to do that? Thanks!

    Power Supply/Brick Not Working?

I'm sorry that you had such a bad experience with your console's power supply Power Supply/Brick Not Working? :(

However, I can't really say that this is a widespread issue. I have a Day One Xbox One and even though I use it (almost) daily, the hardware still working flawlessly.

I, too, had a 2005 Xbox 360 console (the 20GB "Pro" model) that eventually got the "Red Ring of Death", but just before that happened, Microsoft has extended the warranty for just these errors.

The replacement console I got through that warranty exchange is still running at a friend's house, when I got myself a 120GB Elite model later. And this is now being used for the kids of a friend as well, running good. And my Xbox 360 S model is also working
fine, although I don't use it that often, since the One got 360 backwards compatibility.

So I understand you feel from your experience, that Xbox consoles are seemingly of poor quality. But from personal experience I can't say that for me.

It might depend on the outside environment. Maybe the power supply is stuck behind a shelf with no breathing room. Or there are smokers in the room, or the power supply was lying under a window where there was sunlight shining on the power supply overheating
it. Or maybe there was a thunderstorm and a power surge hit the power supply.

Whatever the reason: Understand that things eventually break. But you can try to get a replacement power supply at

The issue isn't that i am worried it will not be resolved at this moment, as i was smart and bought the extended warranty, however the concern I have is that I will have the system it's self fail, as soon as the warranty is void,
as I had this very similar issue with my last Slim Model 360. I mean congrats for you and your stuff working, but I have literally bought the 360 4 times (with only the 4th one still living), and now i am having issues with my Xbox One. I have older consoles
still working to this day, but we, as technologically advanced as we are, cannot make a console that costs 3 times more than the old ones did, last just as long, if not longer than the consoles of the 90s.

    Power cable/supply nearly caught fire...

You can buy a replacement power supply from places such as Gamestop, however, your Xbox may be fried if it got hot enough to melt the power supply.

Make sure you buy compatible power supply though. If you have a newer FAT 360, get the smaller power brick, but if it's over a year old, get the larger brick. The larger brick will work with any console, but the small brick will only work with Jasper motherboards
    (the newest "fat" 360s).

If you have a slim, I'm guessing they have their own specific power supply.

older power brick with "newer" xbox, they work but...

No the older brick will work fine. the brick itself uses more power but will supply the xbox properly.

Xbox one light and sound issues please help!

Try turning it on with the controller. If that won't work, you may have to disconnect the power to the power brick and disconnect the brick from the console and try it again.

I wish there were a way to test for power coming out of the power brick, to test if the console is getting power, but I know of no way to do that.

If you have a friend with the X1 that works, you could test your power supply on their console to see if it works, and put their power supply on your console to see if it can power up.

It could be that the power supply is blown, but it can also be the console as well.
