Power pack showing red

Hi, I need help making sense of this.

My Xbox runs perfectly fine, I love it to bits, and there are no problems when it's on. But when I turn it off or let power saving turn it off, sometimes it just won't turn back on. It doesn't just die or anything, the power pack only goes red if I turn
the Xbox off and its really hard to get it to turn back on.

The wires are fine. The electrical port it's using still works with it. So why does my battery pack only die when I turn my Xbox off? It doesn't over heat??

Red ring on xbox 360E,any easy fix suggestions?

Red light showing on power switch on device and also on power unit,XBOX 360 E is 2 years old.I've hoovered any dust of it,switched off unit for best part of 48 hours,tried another power pack unit and still shows red light.Is this the end of it's life or
can I do something simple to get it working again? Thank you.

 

Power Supply showing Red?

My XBOX shut down midmatch today =( I searched forums and noted that the power supply was showing red. I switched the outlets and it turned on fine, but I am worried that if I continue to play the XBOX will have further damage. Is it necessary to replace
the power supply if it ever turns red? What would cause that?

 

Hello Carbon Psycho, If you look under your power block it labels what the color light mean. Blinking red is a fault alarm are you should get that replaced asap.

 

The power brick turning red means it needs to be replaced, even if your console works fine otherwise. Make sure all the cables are in snug and that they're not damaged.

 

It may not be your power pack but rather the consoles power on PCB Board.

If you have access to one, try a working power pack and if it does the same then you'll know for sure.

 

Ok so what if it's his PCB? Are you going to suggest he replaces the mosfets or capacitor on his PCB? Do you want him to set his house on fire or possibly electrocute himself?

Try a different power brick. Most likely, a part of your power brick took the hit for a power surge and was damaged. It's very unlikely that your PCB is damaged. That's what the power brick is for. To take any surges in power so your console doesn't fry.
What's really beyond me ElectroFlying, is why you're encouraging modification of systems. It's against the TOS and COC.
