    Power Options

I'm sorry if this is a seemingly dumb question, but I was just wondering if someone could provide more information about the power options on the Xbox Series S, as I just want to make sure they're doing what I think they are!

On the power options screen under settings, there are two options:

    Shut-Down (Energy Saving)

    and

    Sleep Mode

I have sleep mode selected, because when I hit the power button on the front of the console, I like it to go into sleep mode if I am planning on using it again later that day or have updates or games I am downloading currently.

When I am not going to use my console for a while (away at work all day or busy with other things), I like to fully power it down.

On that power options screen on the bottom right hand side, I always select the Shut-Down option, where it will prompt me if I want to 'fully shut down my Xbox?' Does this option complete power it down despite the fact that I have 'Sleep Mode' selected on the left hand side of the screen?

    Thank you

    :)

instant on is kinda like a computer in "sleep" mode imo....if you are on and off your xbox all day long , I would use it ....I only get on mine in the evening so I don't use instant on as I like it to boot up fresh each time.... but its your call really...

I now changed my options to shut down as I only play at night after work, I also think a fresh boot up will be better

    A/V power options

Do you have an original Xbox One, or a Xbox One S/X? If you have the original Xbox One (not the S or X) you will need to have Kinect in order to have the Xbox control your A/V equipment.

If you do have Kinect and/or a Xbox One S/X, make sure that the IR Blaster on the Kinect and the console aren't obstructed, and that the IR light can hit your equipment. If you have a home theater with dark walls, it might be that the IR signal can't be
reflected off the walls towards the A/V equipment.

And finally: The TV needs to be able to be controlled via Infrared remote controls. If you have a very modern TV with a Bluetooth remote, the Xbox can't control that. It has to be Infrared controlled.
