Power on/off commands to tv/audio receiver

About a week ago, my Xbox stopped sending the power on & off commands to my TV and receiver. Nothing has changed in my setup, and I'm at my wits end.

I have talked to Xbox support, done hard resets, factory resets, removed and re-added the devices in the Xbox settings, and still no luck.

Has anyone else been having this same issue, and if so, were you able to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    :)

Samsung TV on/off acting as a toggle

I find this incredibly annoying as well--I wish they would add more control over the exact command to be used for power on/off of tv and audio receiver instead of these power toggles. I want it to use my input source select for the receiver and power on
for tv when it comes on, and power off for both the receiver and tv when it powers off. The toggle is prone to errors when things aren't in a specific state before someone says "xbox on" or "xbox turn off". I also wish if I manually press the power button
on the box if it would just shut that off instead of turning back on my tv/receiver.

Xbox one turns TV and Receiver off if they're already on.

I have a logitech harmony for xbox remote that I use with my Home theater setup with multiple devices.

If I know I am going to use only the Xbox One, I want the Xbox One to be able to turn on everything.

Sometimes I will be using a different device with my TV and Receiver but then I want to switch to my Xbox One, but when I turn on my Xbox One, it tries to turn on my TV and Receiver, but they're already on and the Xbox One sends the power toggle command
which turns them both off. So I started with my TV and receiver on and my XB1 off and now my XB1 is on, but my TV and Receiver are off.

I know for a fact that my TV (Samsung LN40A650) and Receiver (Onkyo TX-SR607) have separate Power On and Power Off commands (that will leave them on if they are already on and vice versa) because I can issue them from my universal remote.

Why can't the Xbox One use power On/Off commands instead of the dumb Power Toggle commands if they exist for the device in question?

Power on/off commands to tv/audio receiver

    Hey there Stiff!

I'm sorry to hear about the issue. I noticed that you're part of the Xbox One preview program. Double check that your TV's firmware is updated and if that doesn't do the trick, you'll want to head over to the

    preview program forums
and check with them there. Preview builds can sometimes have different troubleshooting steps than normal so you'll want to work with them in reporting the issue as well.

Thanks for understanding. Power on/off commands to tv/audio receiver :)

Can I connect Xbox One directly to a sound bar?

I have a Vizio soundbar connected to my TV. I ran the Audio Receiver Setup on the Xbox One and now the X1 powers on/off the soundbar along with my entire TV/DVR system.

As for volume control, if you've ran the Audio Receiver Setup then you can control the Soundbar via either voice commands or the Xbox One Smartglass App (the volume controls on Smartglass will no longer control the TV volume, however, as they'll become dedicated
to the soundbar--I presume the same may be me true for voice commands).

Any idea why my Xbox One suddenly stopped being able to control my TV and receiver?

    Steps taken this morning:

-Powered on console (receiver came on, TV did not)

-Manually turned on TV using a remote control

-Went into settings and removed TV

-Re-added TV using model number entry

-Closed out of settings to Home

-Powered down console by holding power button (Receiver did NOT shut off, nor did TV)

-Unplugged console, set timer for 60 seconds

-Manually turned off receiver and TV

-Powered on console (receiver came on, TV did not)

-Went into settings again, changed Device Control power options from On/Off to Toggle

    -Closed out Settings to Home

-Powered down console by holding power button (Receiver and TV again did NOT shut off)

-Unplugged console, set timer for 60 seconds

-Powered on console (receiver and TV stayed on as normal but TV SHOULD have toggled off, yeah?)

-Went into settings just to look around

-Used controller to send "Turn off console" command

-Receiver turned off, TV did not

-Manually turned off TV using remote (note the TV accepts both Power Off and Toggle commands from remote)

-Used controller to power on Xbox

    -Receiver powered on as expected

    -TV did not power on

-Used controller to send "Turn off console" command (yes, I remember how to do this without the TV being on)

-Left for work because it's that time, haha

    Please help!

TV turns off when I power on my Xbox one

They shouldn't be using "power toggle" commands for the tv and receiver--they should be using the discrete "power on" and "power off" commands when doing "xbox on" or "xbox turn off"--this is the source of the problem that Microsoft should be fixing!
