    Content transfer

Something else to try is power the xbox off, remove the hard drive you're transferring the data from, connect the data transfer cable to the xbox and power on, once the xbox reaches the dashboard connect the hard drive you're transferring the data from to
    the data transfer cable.

If you are asked at all to configure the hard drive do not proceed any further, third party cables will wipe all the data and make the drives useless as xbox hard drives.

    HDD Data Transfer

    Hi,

If you're not getting the data transfer window popping up, connect the data transfer cable to the console, power the console on and wait for it to boot up, then connect the hard drive to the other end of the cable.

Please be aware that if the cable you got is not the official Microsoft data transfer cable you could end up with no data on the drive and a drive that will no longer work as an Xbox hard drive.

    My transfer Cable won't work

Hi, just a word of caution here, third party transfer cables more often than not result in total loss of all your data. Should you be asked to configure your storage device at any point then do not proceed.

So onto your issue, try powering the xbox off, connect the transfer cable to the xbox but leave the hard drive you are transferring the data from disconnected from the cable. Power on your xbox, when it reaches the dashboard connect the hard drive you are
transferring data from to the cable.

My Xbox 360 will not show my Hard Drive when it is plugged in.

As vdeathrow93 has already said, connect the 60Gb hard drive to your console in the ususal way.

As you have a genuine Microsoft certified data transfer cable ( your cable is a genuine Microsoft data transfer cable I hope ) simply plug the usb end of the cable into the console when it's powered off, power the console back on and wait for it to boot
up, now connect your old hard drive to the other end of the cable and the data transfer window should open. Follow the instructions to transfer your data from the old hard drive to your 60Gb hard drive.

What happens if you use a none Microsoft branded data transfer cable?

You end up with no data on your drives and drives that will not work as Xbox hard drives again so please ensure that the cable you are using is a Microsoft branded cable.

Now I know the link refers to having a new console but the same also applies to having a new hard drive.

    Hard drive data transfer

Firstly is the data transfer cable an official Microsoft product? Unofficial data transfer cables are not guaranteed to function correctly and may cause data corruption.

If it is the official cable please give this a whirl, connect the usb end of the cable to your console, power up the console and then hook the other end up to your old hard drive.
