    Power cut... Now xbox one WILL NOT TURN ON!


    We had a power cut and then the xbox one stopped working. It's completely dead, no lights on, no way of turning it on. Has anyone else experienced this? If this doesn't work I will NEVER buy and xbox again. Surely such an expensive item doesn't get effected
    by electricity going off. It wasn't even on at the time!

    need help power is fine comes on just after 5 mins it cuts off

    my xbox one evertime i try and play games power cuts off then i got to reboot it again

    The Xbox one power brick has a built in surge protector.. the thought that strikes me is that could the powe cut have tripped the surge protector? If so to reset it you unplugg the psu from the console AND the outlet for at least 10 seconds..

    I had the same issue a while ago and the solution above worked for me, after panicking I noticed the PSU light was out, unplugged it and tried it on another socket to find it worked, then plugged it back in where it belongs and it's been fine ever since,
    I didn't know about the built in surge protector so that explains why it worked. Hope it works for you too.

    Electronics can have a safety lockout. This lockup is cleared by its removing power cord for a few seconds.

    All electronics have surge protection. Long before the PC existed, industry standards defined it as 600 volts for 120 volt appliances. Today's appliances are often more robust.

    An adjacent power strip protector can compromise (bypass) this protection.

    You definitely shouldnt have cut the power cord and try to refuse it. That kills your option to have microsoft repair it or your console. You wont be able to trade it in anywhere either. If it wasnt cut, you could have traded it in for at least some store
    credit towards getting a new one. Now your best option is to either replace that cord or buy a new/used xbox. When replacing the cord, make sure you are getting the right model as there are like three different models of power cords.

    I took one of the last Gen black Xbox 360 power supplies cut the plug off and wired it to my Xbox one plug and it works pretty good lol.
