Power brick query

On Sunday my Xbox One suddenly turned off in the middle of watching a show on Netflix, I removed the power brick and tried it in a different plug socket yet it still was not responding.

I'm going to be ordering a new powerbrick from MS tomorrow, however I cannot test my xbone with someone elses brick as mine is the first model they released and not the One S. Was just wondering, if I order a new brick and discover that the Xbox one is also
damaged, will Microsoft refund my return?

Neither my one or my power brick are in a small cabinet. Why would you assume that is my problem.

The PSU has surge protection built in, so if your power block experienced a power surge or just randomly died, your console would likely still be fine.

If it turns out your console is indeed not working, you will have to arrange a repair of the console itself. I don't believe Microsoft will give you a refund if this is the case (unless if, I guess, you return the new PSU).

You can contact them via their phone support (US: 1-800-4MY-XBOX) or chat; the customer reps should be able to give you more accurate answers concerning billing, charges, fees, and refunds.

The reason your Power Brick is making a humming noise, is because inside of the power brick. Is a little fan, this fan keeps your Power Brick at the correct temperature. If your power brick gets hot, the fans RPM will increase and it will make a humming
sound because your XBOX Power Brick Fan is cooling down your Power Brick. Nothing to worry about unless it's a roaring sound.

*UPDATE* I'm not sure if it was because of the update or not but the root cause was my power brick. Either the update affected my power brick (which I don't know if it's even possible) or the power brick was faulty and just happened to
have issues during the update. I took it to Gamestop and they plugged up a different power brick and it booted up fine. The old power brick always stays orange. If you have this issue, check the power brick.
