    Power Brick popped


    I have an xbox one and the power brick made a popping/cracking noise yesterday and quit working. The orange light still comes on but then when I plug it in to the xbox console it goes off and won't power the console on.

    There's nothing wrong with the outlet it was plugged in to, it does the same thing from every outlet I have. This is only less than a year old.

    Does anyone have this issue, and does anyone know how to fix it? Is it common that they blow like this?

    No picture at all

    I Had the same problem, and when I went to disconnect the power brick found the cable was loose. It popped right out, sp I put in back in brick firmly, turned on xbox one and picture had returned instead of just having sound.

    Pop goes the power brick

    Just had a tiny power failure(power off, power straight back on, all over in seconds) and as the power cut out the power brick for my 360 slim popped/banged and it switched off. Red light was showing on the brick and the xbox wouldn't turn on, so I disconnected
    and re-connected it and it worked straight away, all seems fine, etc.

    So can I safely carry on using it or should I replace the power source now? I do have the one from an original 360 lying around somewhere if they're interchangeable.

    Power Brick popped

    Sometimes a short circuit can fry even the most resilient of power bricks. I suggest you to get a new asap and not use a damaged power brick that might damage your console in return.

    Hello Starwolf44441, as you are referring to the power brick of your console, I believe you must have an Xbox One Fat, the first Xbox One.

    If it is the Xbox One Fat, unfortunately this console has been discontinued and spare parts or the power brick are no longer manufactured.

    There are alternative power bricks on the market that are not recommended for use on the console.

    Microsoft also no longer has a paid repair service for this console model.

    The ideal in this case, if possible, would be to take your power brick to a technical assistance that could fix it.

    It has blown a capacitor, unplug it from the wall and the console and don't plug it back in, it can start fires

    The reason your Power Brick is making a humming noise, is because inside of the power brick. Is a little fan, this fan keeps your Power Brick at the correct temperature. If your power brick gets hot, the fans RPM will increase and it will make a humming
    sound because your XBOX Power Brick Fan is cooling down your Power Brick. Nothing to worry about unless it's a roaring sound.
