  1. Power Brick issue

I have been using a third-party powerbrick, since my xbox one is from Japan (using 110V) and my country uses 220V. However, the powerbrick stops working after two weeks.

I asked in a local store, and they recommended me to purchase a step down converter (from 220V to 110V). This will enable me to use 110V official power adapter from Microsoft Japan. (i.e., stepdown converter from 220AC to 110AC, which is then connected to
110V official power adapter, which is then connected to Xbox One).

However, Xbox One officially use 215Watts, but my step down converter only support 200 AC output at its maximum. To my knowledge, if you use 215 Watts appliants, you need at least 300 AC converter as there will likely be energy loss when transferring from
the stepdown adapter to the appliant.

But, when I look at the unofficial, third-party powerbricks for Xbox one, they are all outputting 135Watts only. Therefore, is my 200AC stepdown converter be enough? Does anyone have experience in using stepdown converter?

You may ask why I did not purchase an official adapter from Microsoft to be used in my country. My answer is that they are all sold out.

    :)

  2. Power brick issue

My power brick LED goes red whenever I plug in my wired Xbox controller. It doesn't get hot or go red at any other point. The controller worked fine on the Xbox before I used it on my PC. After I tried to plug it back in to the Xbox it no longer works with
the Xbox. It still works on my PC. I tried everything I could think of to get it to work again to no avail. If I unplug the controller or everything and plug things back in it works, but if the controller is plugged back in as well the LED goes red. Checked
for bent pins or shorting in the USB ports, but that bore no fruit either. I am still able to plug in my wireless controllers into the USB ports and they charge and work just fine. I even tried to plug in just the breakaway cable by itself and the light stays
amber. But when I plugged the controller into the breakaway cable the LED immediately turned red. At a loss. Any help would be appreciated. I do understand that I may need to get a new controller, but there has to be something else that can resolve the issue.

First I would not use a power converter at all your warranty could be voided if any thing goes wrong.

    Only use official Microsoft products.

it would be helpful if you told us your country.

  5. My console did not have warranty anyway. I purchased in Japan but used it in Hong Kong.

So, you do not think I should use a stepdown converter (from 220V to 110V), which only allows 200AC at its maximum? Does Xbox One really use over 200W? Every other third-party power brick only output 135W only.

  6. I would not recommend using anything which is not approved by Microsoft.

There are some proper Microsoft power bricks on eBay, but the prices are quite high as there's not currently any other way to buy one.

I agree with 989 though - the third party ones are to be avoided, as they're usually low quality and probably haven't gone through a lot of testing. Also, I believe that using one would void your console's warranty due to it being an unauthorised accessory.
MS will not take responsibility if a dodgy third party PSU fries your machine.

Same problem on my 360. A power surge wiped out the original brick, bought what I thought was a Microsoft brand replacement. It wasn't and now it overheats after 30ish minutes. Takes a couple of hours to cool down. Doesn't kill the power though. Says "reconnect
controller" and the center green light on the console goes out. (Not batteries)

I'd love to do that. Do you know where I can go to buy one?
