Power Brick is RED HOT

I have been busy for the past few weeks and neglected my Titanfall responsibilities. I was rearranging my wires when I touched the power brick. It was RED HOT. I picked it up and heard a clicking noise and could smell that insulation smell.

I immediately unplugged the console. I called MS and they gave me some line about how I shouldn't use a powerstrip.

I will be testing this tonight when I get home and probably going to be on the phone with MS again. I think the fan is broken.

Just make sure you console is in a cool area. I have one of my console's power bricks right on top of a vent that blows cool air in. If your room gets to hot, the light on the power brick will turn red until your console cools down.

Yeah, I don't know what their deal is with power strips but they need to figure something else out. For some reason you can run a custom 6K computer with a power strip, a 40K sound/theater setup with a power strip, but you can't run a $500 Xbox on a power
strip? Really? That is a problem. My house got hit by lightning a couple of years ago and everything that was not plugged into a power strip fried! Xbox didn't back up my warranty because lightning took it out, but then they tell you not to protect your
money that you have spent on the Xbox because it has some type of surge protector built into the power brick?! I don't buy it and it doesn't work for anything.

Now I can understand wanting to test the Xbox plugged directly into the outlet to eliminate the possibility of a bad power strip but they shouldn't exclude it from being used all together unless they want to up their warranty substantially.

 

I plugged it directly into the wall. Turned on the Xbox One. Waited 1 minute. Turned off the Xbox One so the power supply would go into Standby (white LED).

Went to walk the dog. 15 minutes later, the power supply was getting very hot.
