Post october update noise

Hi,

I was having the coil whine issue pre update but now its gone, however the Xbox now appears to have a much louder fan as well as noise emitting from the bluray "area" of the box.

Before the update my xbox was pretty much dead silent except for the crackling noise, now its never as silent as that.

As an example im hearing the xbox over the A/C even though the xbox is further away.

Should i return it, or is this just how it sounds now?

Has the coil whine issue been fixed now?

There was a fix in the October system update which addressed this noise. A number of people have mentioned the October update solved it for them and it was out ~October 15th. Do you still get the noise after the update?

Seems it happens more for European consoles and those without Kinect attached.

But i would love to hear from someone who had an xbox with the crackling noise before the latest update if their Xbox is now completely quiet or if like me the crackling has been replaced by an overall much louder console.

 

On My xbox one after october update nothing change... My xbox are kinect Version and no noise in Dashboard pre and after update... But if you unplug/ and replug power cord or if you reset cache hold down power button for 5 seconda the console male a noise
like a zzzzzzzzZzzzZZZ... Are normal !?

 

I dont think you should worry if it only briefly makes the sound when you plug/unplug.

 

If your console is still emitting the same buzzing noise after the October update. I suggest contacting support for a replacement.

Although coil whine is very common in high end computing devices, especially in the PC industry, and is in fact harmless to the hardware. If you find it annoying to cannot tolerate it a replacement is in order.

 

Again... I have tried two xbox one kinect Version after update and both same issue no horrible buzzing noise in Dashboard but a low long buzzing if you reset cache of console or unplug the power cord and replug.. After october update nothing change the Buzz
on reset cahe still here... Is normal? Your xbox after update no have any bizzing noise on reset cache!? What are official support position For this!?

 

My Xbox has never had the noise, nor did it develop the noise after the update so I am unsure what to suggest given your details on the situation. Is it possible it is the optical disk drive spooling like some users report after the update?

 

Hi there, my Xbox was quiet as a mouse and I've just done the October update and now when it's on and no matter what I'm doing, sitting at the dash, playing a game or app it's really bloody loud. Like the fan is really going some. Also it's quite high in
pitch.

I spoke to support and they told me to do all the unplug etc and that hasn't helped at all.

Now there asking me to send it to them an they will send me a new one.

Don't know what to do, should I send it off? Hate the idea of sending it off tho is with UPS. But then again it's so loud when on that it's off putting.

 

mine will read the disc ok. its just as soon as it turns on there is this loud whurring noise that comes from the drive no matter what you are doing (games,apps, dashboard) only way to prevent it is to remove the disc. so for some reason it sounds like the
disc is constantly being accessed even when its not needed

 

Mine dose it with the disk in or out. Had a oh this morning but couldn't play, had to have the TV down low as it was early and the Xbox was louder than it.

It was all fine till Sunday just gone.

Still debating if I should send it off?!

 

I returned mine to the store and will now wait for the white sunset edition, if that one as well turns out to have a problem then i will lose all faith. ALL faith.

 

well ive just left mine on the dashboard and after about 20 minutes it stops accessing the disc and is silent again. I think its a software or app issue, dont think its hardware, I am in the update program and have had another dash update today and nothing
changed relateing to cd drive noise so possibly not that either who knows
