    I'm on AT&T U-verse and my connection to xbox live (xbox one) is terrible. I've had AT&T out to my house 4 times and I still have an unacceptable connection to xbox live. I suspect that whoever MS is using for their peering partner has network bottlenecks
    at many of the providers. Unfortunately it's impossible for us as consumers to prove this to MS or AT&T. AT&T has me run speed tests and they look fine. MS has me run speed tests and they are fine. Multi-Player is NOT fine.

    If you have similar issues please post with the following format:

    Provider: AT&T

    Ping: 79ms (spikes to 200ms)

    Download Speed: 17Mbs

    Upload Speed: 1.5Mbs

    Download Packet Loss: 1%

    Upload Packet Loss: 4%

    Does internet speed affect how you play?

    Download and Upload speed do less than you think. You barley require a decent up/down to play. The biggest components are PING and Packet Loss. Packet Loss causes rubberbanding in games and PING is the latency of your connection to theirs. High PING means
    a High Packet Loss (or Jitter leads to Packet Loss too) and what is known as Lag. I have a 20Mb/s download and as long as you and me have the same PING, your 1.6Mb/s download is no different for gaming.

    Xbox Live Battlefield 3: Lag and hit detection worsens when RTP traffic increases

    If you have packet loss on your connection with high ping times, it will effect RTP too...

    I am also experiencing unacceptable upload packet loss:

    Provider: SaskTel

    Ping: 74ms

    Download Speed: 3.85Mbs

    Upload Speed: 0.69Mbs

    Download Packet Loss: 0%

    Upload Packet Loss: 8%

    ppl in europe have to play with a >200ms ping
