    Possible to change channels without Kinect?


    Hi, I recently set up my Xbox One, and connected Smartglass, but I can't change channels when I am watching my cable TV through the Xbox One. Is this because I don't have the kinect? And if so, is there any way around it to save me 150 dollars? Besides changing
    it with my cable providers remote, is there a way to change the channels through smartglass/xbox one controller? Does it have something to do with an IR Cable? Thank you.

    Now doesn't that make channel browsing fun ? That's if everybody in the room hadn't thrown a brick at you and told you to shut the f up and just use the remote control instead.

    Nope, not possible yet with Sky or Virgin Media, you have to use your remote to change channels, theres an update coming in 2014 though.

    Possible to change channels without Kinect?

    Make sure your cable provider is set up in the settings.

    To use the controller simply hit X to bring up the One Guide to change channels.

    SmartGlass will have a remote icon in the lower right corner that will allow you to navigate the One Guide with SmartGlass.

    As Randver said, yes it is possible to change channels without a Kinect.

    Use your Xbox controller and press X to load One Guide

    or

    Use Xbox One app on phone

    or

    Buy Xbox One remote (totally worth it, even thou it eats batteries)

    One Guide won't change channels AT&T Uverse

    You can't change channels without the kinect or an IR cable. The kinect is what sends the IR signal to the box.
