Possible to back up game data on external HD?

Hey,

so here's the deal, I'm gonna send in my Xbox One to have it repaired. I save all my game data on my 2TB external Hd. So can I just reconnect my Hd after I get my Xbox back and keep all the game data saved on there? Because redownloading about 500 GB worth
of data would be a real pain in the neck for me with my 2 mbit connection.

Lost all of my saved game data

So i transfered all my games to an external hard drive in case of a fire, in never put my saved game data on the cloud or backed up my xbox. So after i transfered all the games over i was very stupid in thinking that the external hard drive could how both
ps and xbox game data so i plugged it into the ps4 to save my new spider man game on it. After that i plugged it back into my xbox one and all of the saved game data was gone. Is there anyway to get all that saved game data back without having to play through
all of my games again?

 

Save game back up?

The Game data is stored to what they call Clouds...( You cannot view Clouds) on Xbox One you cant use an external device to back up your Minecraft World for example. This is what the Tech just told me.

I did like the way I handled my own storage on my 360 with a USB stick as my backup.

Taking me a bit to get used to it.

Anyone know of any possible way I could loose my game data on the Xbox One?

when you get the new xbox, just recover your profile, plug in the drive and make the console your home console if you wish and boom back to normal, no re downloading, you may have to wait to sync game saves when you start each game but thats it.
