Possible Remastered ME Trilogy - Xbox One/PS4

The site which listed the article wouldn't be the most reputable source for gaming news considering it's a website for "pop star news", but I can see the potential legitimacy of the subject given the industries love affair with releasing remastered versions
of past games for "next-gen" consoles. With Mass Effect "4" well in the works and a potential release window next fall/winter, I can see them wanting to release something like this a few months prior or just after E3 to garner interest again.

Mass Effect Trilogy PS4 Release Date Teased With New Concept Art and Halo 4 Writer; BioWare Head Teases About Mass Effect Remaster Features

(URL was a long one so I just shortened it)

Aaron Flynn stated the following in the article:

"The thing I'd love to hear from people is what you'd like to have in such an experience. For me (personal opinion, and based on what people have told me many times before): 1080p, 60 FPS, High res textures, especially on ME1, Some shader improvements
commensurate with newer GPUs, All the DLC and "Seamless experience" - the adventures flow into each other without having to go back to save import, menu screens, etc."

Personally speaking, and if they could pull it off with
fluid 1080p, 60 fps, and high-res textures for Xbox One I could see myself making this a purchase. That is, if it included all DLC as well and at the same price point as the MCC (Master Chief Collection).

    :)

1080p at 60fps and with high resolution textures?

Welcome to the PC versions of the games.

Yeah I don't see how they will be able to pull off fluid
1080p 60fps with high-res textures when they could only manage 900p and at best 30fps for Dragon Age: Inquisition on Xbox One which utilizes the Frostbite 3 engine. Don't get me wrong though, it still looks amazing for what it is and I can't wait to see what
the next Mass Effect that's in the works is going to look like given it'll utilize the same engine.

The original trilogy of Mass Effect uses Unreal Engine 3, a big difference from Frostbite 3, but I just don't see the quoted comments from Aaron Flynn as being anything more than a distant possibility. Would it be great if they could squeeze every ounce
of performance and fidelity and produce the pipe dream that is 1080p/60fps/high-res textures for the remakes? Obviously, but at this point I just don't see how.

PC version is a no brainer to be able to handle it, depending of course on who does the port as there is always the potential for a terrible PC port. However I feel as though this supposed remastered trilogy would be targeted more towards the "next-gen"
    consoles than anything else.

  7. Why would you need a PC port? The three games can already be played at 1080p, have high resolution textures (fan made I admit) and 60fps on the PC.

They aren't likely to remake the wheel if they do port the games to the Xbox One. They wont remake them in Frostbite but give the existing games a high res polish. Unreal Engine 3 is incredibly light on system requirements, the One would easily do 1080p
    at 60fps with it.

I've had a recent craving to play through the ME trilogy again except on PC this time around, but I keep getting drawn back to play Dragon Age: Inquisition instead which is basically the only Xbox One game that I play. I have Destiny as well, but it just
doesn't offer the same intrigue at this point.

Inquisition is a good redeemer for BioWare's future projects for me because I've had such a good time playing it and I've only scratched the surface on my first playthrough, so this possible remastered trilogy for "next-gen" consoles if done correctly would
be a nice way to bridge the gap until the next Mass Effect comes out.

  10. Sorry, but I disagree with you strongly about how 'good' Dragon Age Inquisition is... but I won't derail this thread with it. I admit I have restarted the ME trilogy again... On PS3. I've thoroughly enjoyed the series and just like the two KotOR games, I
find myself replaying ME1, ME2 and ME3 annually.

No worries, we all have different opinions. And I'm not too worried about going a bit off-topic, this thread is based upon speculation anyhow and the talk of possible future projects that we have little to no information on (ME "4"/remastered trilogy) so
I believe this type of discussion is warranted.

I just found Inquisition to of actually rectified a lot of the issues that DA 2 had instead of going down the route of ME 2 and ME 3 which drastically changed the direction of the game in terms of gameplay and the related mechanics which was an RPG with
exploration first and foremost just to name a few things with ME 1 and a shooter with RPG elements with little to no exploration in the latter. Exploration aspects seem to be coming back for the next Mass Effect with the emphasis on the new Mako and the constant
mentioning of strong exploration on these vast worlds to traverse.

So for that BioWare earned some useless brownie points from me. Now it's obviously going to be a wait and see point of view for me until we figure out how this next Mass Effect pans out. But given that it's being developed by BioWare Montreal, the ME 3 multiplayer
dev team, which was one of the better facets of that game and the fact that Casey Hudson is no longer on the team and there's fresh new faces helping to develop it apart from Gamble and a few others of note that have been there, then I'm genuinely intrigued
    by it.

Perfect scenario for them imo is if they can pull off this remastered trilogy for Xbox One and Playstation 4, set it at a reasonable price point with all DLC included and then release it at an opportune time to generate interest in the series again, say
for example after an E3 trailer for the next Mass Effect.

We need some new info BioWare!
