Possible Release of Gamertag

Hello,

So after a good amount of research I've found out that gamertags are released on occasion, and no one can say when exactly it will happen to which gamertag. However I have noticed that, in previous releases they have "Categories" which the gamertag they
are releasing fits into. I would really like the gamertag "Aezora" but it definitely does not fit into any of the categories the releases mentioned. Another thing I have heard is that they are automatically released on seven years are up.

Basically what I was wondering is if the gamertag "Aezora" which appears to have never been used just created, will automatically become available once seven years are up, or if it has to be approved or something. If it does need to get added onto a list
or something I was wondering if that could be done.

If the owner of the account doesn't sign into it for 5 years (starting last year) the gamertag will be released.

If the original owner does not sign into the account for 5 years (starting last year) it will be released. Keep in mind that the gamertag system is used on other Microsoft services. So even if the tag is not being used on an Xbox, it may in use somewhere
else on Microsoft's servers.

 

So just to clarify you are saying that if they login to their Microsoft account at all then it won't be released? (as in say, for their email)

 

If they sign into any Microsoft service that uses the tag it won't be released.
