    Possible need of new internal power supply?


    My xbox one x wont power up when i plug the power cord into my xbox. I believe the issue is the internal power supply because i tested to see if the power cable was faulty by buying a new cable and the result was the same. Could this issue be the IPS or
    some other issue like the motherboard? It used to turn on at times but before it would power up for a second at times before shutting off, but i could get it to work sometimes by wiggling the cable a certain way.

    Hi Colin,

    Most power strips also function as a surge protector and that has been known to degrade the internal power supply over time since the Xbox's power supply includes a fuse that serves as a surge protector. The power supplies' fuse can get damaged in the event
    of a power surge since the power strip may have affected the efficiency of the Xbox's power surge protection. This is why we always recommend to plugging in the Xbox directly into the socket most of the time. The Xbox will work if plugged into a power strip
    but the risk of damaging the fuse is still a possibility.

    My suggestion is to try another Xbox One S power cable if possible and if that doesn't work then the internal power supply is probably damaged and would need to be sent in for repair.

    The installation is going strong now so it seems to have worked. Do I need to get my xbox checked for any possible damage to the internal power supply from being plugged in that power strip?

    Do you have a Xbox One with external power supply or an Xbox One S or X with internal power supply?

    I say that because in the first case you can try another power supply (ask to a friend if possible) to see if this fix the problem.

    Hi

    With the original Xbox One you will need to purchase a new power brick however I don't believe you will be able to purchase one in the US. If possible if might be worth looking to upgrade to and Xbox One S or X as the internal power supply supports both
    220V and 110V so all you would need to purchase is a new power cable when you arrive and you can then just connect the cable directly to the console.

    Question: If there is a Power Failure will we still get to play the Xbox One?

    PC's have a backup power supply, usually a 6 cell Lion battery. It's going to need the AC power supply as M hasn't built an internal battery to power it :D
