Possible GPU Problem Xbox 360?

Hello, I have recently been noticing strange white flickering dots along the edge of textures in most games. This can be on doors or floors. I know for a fact these were definitely not there before. This all seemed to start happening after I downloaded
just cause 2. I was playing it and during a cutscene there were these blue blurry lines that appeared across the screen for a few seconds. If needed I will record and post a video of the dots.

It is possible for the Xbox to get GPU artifacts like a PC does, since they are essentially the same kind of device.

Keep playing normally and see if the problem gets worse. If possible, check if other games exhibit this issue as well.

Ensure that your Xbox has adequate ventilation to prevent overheating. If it continues to show these graphical artifacts at a predictable rate, or it gets to the point of abruptly shutting your Xbox down, then it is indeed an issue with the Xbox GPU and
your console will need to be sent in to Microsoft for repair.

That's not how it works anymore. Any dx11 capable GPU must support directcompute. This allows it to execute pretty much anything, including physics. Microsoft could give the next xbox a GPU that's 15-20x as powerful as the 360's, making extensive physics
processing very possible on the GPU.

 

Is it in all games? Depending on how old your console is, it may very well be a GPU problem. There's not much you can do to fix it though.

 

Hi Irixion, I got my 360 E for Christmas last year, so it's not that old. So far they are in almost every game I have tried. Thank you for responding.

 

I'm interested in seeing what these spots look like to be honest . If it's not freezing or crashing then it may not even be a GPU issue. Try clearing your cache or running a game without any storage devices or accessories plugged in.

You sir, are a man with great taste. It's weird. That shouldn't happen. Try redownloading the game and clearing your cache? Try it without the HDD? If your games are installed to HDD or use any form of storage that storage cache may have had a funky time
and corrupted. It's hard to say. GPU issues usually cause the console to crash with the lovely checkerboard pattern.
