    Possible gamertag release?


    I was in contact with xbox support and they directed me to the forums, is it possible to release gamertags that are unavailable, I believe they are classified as previously changed or banned in the past. The one I was looking for is unavailable and was wondering
    if they are eventually re-released to be used again.

    Possible gamertag change

    If the owner of the account doesn't sign in for 5 years, the gamertag will be released. There's no way to request a gamertag.

    Possible gamertag change

    Ok so I've had the name Blest in mutiple ways on xbox/mixer/twitch/ps4/ps3 and steam. Now I've always wondered why I couldn't just have the name Blest on xbox. I find out that the account has never been played and has zero gamer score since the beginning
    that xbox360 has come out. I would like to get rights to the name if possible and have my account name changed to that.

    If the owner of the account doesn't sign into it for 5 years (starting last year) the gamertag will be released.

    If they sign into any Microsoft service that uses the tag it won't be released.

    So just to clarify you are saying that if they login to their Microsoft account at all then it won't be released? (as in say, for their email)

    If the original owner does not sign into the account for 5 years (starting last year) it will be released. Keep in mind that the gamertag system is used on other Microsoft services. So even if the tag is not being used on an Xbox, it may in use somewhere
    else on Microsoft's servers.
