Possible Fix for the Netflix Streaming Issues

I'm experiencing this issue with the X1 as well. It stutters and buffers to the point that it is unwatchable. So last night I turned on my x360 and resumed the movie I was watching. It worked seamlessly in HD and never stopped once to buffer. They run
off the same router and are about 2 feet from each other. It is definitely an X1 issue and it is very disappointing as video streaming is one most used features on it! I have been trying to find an answer to this issue for 2 months. I have already had my
X1 and kinect replaced once. I have tried everything people have suggested even opening ports on the router and nothing. Microsoft says its a netflix issue and netflix says it is a microsoft issue. real helpful. I seriously question my purchase at this
point.

 

Make sure your port forwarding are setup for the x1 on your router. Here's a link to that thread

support.xbox.com/.../network-ports-used-xbox-live . I also have a netgear router and was connected to 5G when I was having trouble before, switching my x1 connection to my normal broadcast N signal seems to have helped the quality of the Netflix streaming.
I've talked to both Microsoft and Netflix, Microsoft says its a "Netflix Server Issue" and Netflix says its a bandwidth issue from the router. They call themselves "bandwidth hogs" and to do what you can to increase your bandwidth. I'm not sure there is
one answer but you can try what I did or direct connect into your modem (ONLY TO TEST THE STREAMING QUALITY) and troubleshoot to see if it is your Wi-Fi being the issue. Switching to the different broadcast band seems to have helped me and I'm up and running
on my Wi Fi again.

 

Shouldn't have to forward any ports for xbox live....

 

Is anyone else here on the March update preview? Netflix has been INFINTELY better since I downloaded the preview. Even with the fix that I posted in my original post (that apparently didn't work for anyone but me), there were still some hiccups and long
load times, but now content loads almost immediately, and goes straight to HD.

Can anyone else report the same?

 

Ever since it was announced that Netflix is paying Comcast for a better connection, all my problems disappeared, now my shows load almost instantly and they are always in HD, and yes, I have Comcast for my ISP.

 

I have the preview update and Netflix isn't fixed. At around 4pm last night I started getting sub SD quality while watching Fringe. I popped over to the PS4 and got Super HD rest of the night. Something is still wrong. I'm guessing it's the netflix app
itself at this point. Both the X1 and PS4 were pointing to the same server.

 

I have FIXED the Netflix quality issue with the Xbox One! First let me tell you how (the answer is not the Roku, just a step along the way to figure it out!) I have tested this on several Xbox Ones and it has worked every time. How did I fix it? I gave up
on the Xbox One streaming in high quality for Netflix. After a couple of months I bought a Roku (today). The Roku worked with Amazon, Youtube, VuDu, etc. EXCEPT Netflix did not work at all! Under more detail I found a link to test my settings (within the Netflix
app on the Roku) and it could connect to 2 out of four Netflix servers! Server 2 & 3 did not connect! Weird... I was on the phone with Netflix, they could not figure it out... I thought about it... I decided to change myDNS on the DHCP with my Cisco Router
to Google’s DNS instead of OpenDNS... (Google’s DNS is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and boom! Then restarted Roku, FIXED! I then booted up the Xbox One and Boom! HIGH QUALITY Netflix every time, during the day!... I think the Roku requires ALL servers to connect
and the Xbox One will stream to the two low quality servers if needed and continue on. Once all servers were resolvable, High quality now works! Why OpenDNS has a problem, I don’t know. I prefer OpenDNS because of the parental controls… but, hey, Google’s
works correctly!

 

anybody with the new firmware beta? please check the bitrate of Example Short 23.976 movie on netflix.

 

I get good streaming results on the example test, problem is movies and shows still look bad. no where near HD

 

What do you mean with good results but no HD? Whatbitrate?

 

Again, mine depends on the time of day. Last night, I was getting HD video while watching Fringe till 7pm EST. Next episode was streaming in SD quality. Went over to the PS4 and perfect Super HD.

 

Today i got a netflix update, now it works perfectly, no jidder and no low bitrate! Thanks!

 

I changed my display settings. It was on 720 and I put it to 1080. This helped the choppy problem I had

 

The problem is no doubt the xbox one. Everything else in my household works just fine over wifi. Everything, I'm running a 50mbs connection here. I'm only experiencing stutter on the xbox one, streaming apps netflix,hbo go and others.

 

Yes, the miserable choppy frame rate issue returned since the June or July update. Thank you Microsoft
