Possible fake Xbox one controllers?

I bought a controller and I was immediately taken back by the fact it would not update.

Then I checked the versions. This is a normal version: : 1.2.2236.0

The one I bought was just : 1.2.260.0

I have since returned it back to the seller and will initiate a refund.

I have taken a photo of the screen as proof. But for curiousity sake, has there been fakes in the market already? Or was mine just faulty?

For example my real region is Latvia, but Xbox doesn't support it, so i have to choose the "fake" one ( Russia).

So did you purchase it from a 3rd party retailer online?

I mean I don't think it's a common thing that fake controllers are sold in store, but I do think if you're ordered online that there is a possibility it's not the real thing.

You should always check for the MS hologram on the product which should signify if it's legit or not.

 

There are alot of fake and dodgy MS products online so depending on where you bought it from it could be fake. As DA said, you should be ok with a reputable retailer and it was probably just faulty but alot of online stores sell alot of shonky stuff when
it comes to electronics.

I know some people have had issues with their xbox1 controller in the past.

 

i already have the refund and i'm ok with how this turned out

i'm just surprised that at this point, we would see fake controllers... the unit looked identical to my original one except the drive motors were weaker, the holograms were there as was the "Welcome from Seattle"

from visual inspection you would not know except for the fact it would not update and the firmware numbers were wrong

it amazes me that they have reverse engineered a fake bios for the controller

the console is 1yr old, it amazes me the chinese have already copied this!

 

btw. holograms mean nothing, its well known they can be faked

 

Yes, but what if there isn't one at all? It's a quick way of possibly identifying a fake.
