    Possible External Hard Drive Issues

I recently purchased an external hard drive and noticed there were some connection issues. For instance, on Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2, my Xbox One would not connect with the EA servers or it would disconnect mid game (if I could get on). It would
also have issues logging in to Xbox Live. I ended up buying another Hard Drive. After much research, I went with the WD My Book 3TB hard drive. Everything went well at first, but now I am having the same problems. If I disconnect the external HD, it plays
    fine.

Any ideas as to what is going on or how I can fix it?

    :)

    External Hard Drive Issues Addressed

Sorry to hear that you're having issues with this. Although the issue that you're experiencing may be due to the fact you're using a hard drive that is meant as an internal drive (whether it is used in an enclosure or not is moot) instead of an external
    hard drive.

I feel that a drive that is internal would be meant to function differently than an external drive and that may be where your issues are originating.

Would it be possible to try an external drive, either powered by the console or by and external power source (plug) to see if there's any improvement?

I'm only asking as I have an external hard drive (WD seems to be the best from what I've heard) and have had no issues with it.

Move Save Games from Internal HDD to External Storage

Is it possible to move save games from the internal hard drive to an external hard drive? If it is possible, how do I do it?

    Hello Bos Holland,

I'm sorry someone hasn't got back to sooner. But, if you have already tried the steps outlined in "Troubleshoot external storage detection
    on Xbox One
" and the problem continues, then may I suggest doing a "How to reset your console to factory defaults on Xbox One" . You will have
the option to keep your games and apps, but it will take sometime to complete. If you can, please let us if this helped.

There is a possibility that there is either a connection issue with your external hard drive or somehow the external drive is corrupted. One possible solution is to uninstall the game and then reinstall the game. Try installing the game on only the internal Xbox hard drive to see if that fixes the problem. Also, try launching other games on your external hard drive to see if how those games are functioning normally.

Memoria esterna non rilevata e il controller non risponde ai comandi [Translation - External memory is not detected and the controller does not respond to commands]

    Hi there,

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is persistent on the External Hard Drive.

Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a PC?

Does the PC recognize the external hard drive?

Does the external hard drive meet the specifications for the Xbox One?

If the problem persists, I recommend to try a different external hard drive on the Xbox if possible. One thing we want to make sure, Are the ports on the Xbox One functioning?

    Let us know.

    Xbox and controller not working

    hello again Gus

The fact that your controller stops unpairing and your games load smoother when your external hard drive is disconnected suggests that the external hard drive might be causing the issues you've been experiencing.

Here are some possible explanations and next steps:

    Possible explanations:

Overworked USB port: Connecting an external hard drive draws additional power from the USB port. If the port is overloaded, it might be causing the controller to disconnect and games to lag.
Incompatible hard drive: Not all external hard drives are compatible with Xbox consoles. An incompatible drive might cause performance issues and instability.
Hardware issues: The hard drive itself might be malfunctioning or experiencing hardware failures.
    Next steps:

Test with another USB port: Try connecting the external hard drive to another USB port on your Xbox. This will help determine if the issue is specific to a particular port.
Format the hard drive: Reformatting the hard drive can fix any corrupted data or file system issues that might be causing performance problems. However, remember that this will erase all data on the drive, so back up your important files before proceeding.
Use a different external hard drive: If you have another external hard drive, try connecting it to your Xbox and see if the issues persist. This will help determine if the problem is specific to the original hard drive.

I hope this helps! Don't hesitate to ask if you have any further questions or need additional clarification.
