Possible controller glitch

I have been playing on the xbox one for a while and have had this controller years. The problem just happened, whenever I press the Y button it acts as if I have pressed the start button and Y button. As you can imagine this is very frustrating. I tested
it on the dashboard and confirmed it is the controller by testing on another controller.

Thinking it was a mapping issue i restored my controller to default but still nothing. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do or am i just gonna need a new one?

odd controller home page problem.

My controller works on games just fine but when I'm on the home page I cant move it. I can turn the system and controller on and off but just cant use the controller to move around the homepage. I can voice command around and even use my hands but not the
controller. Is it possible I turned off that ability or is it some glitch? how do I fix it?

sounds like infinite money glitch in reverse.

 

Sounds like the controller is going to have to be replaced since you tested it with another controller and everything worked properly.

At the moment I am taking it apart and cleaning it as much as I can and hoping for the best.

 

Cleaning the controller worked perfectly although one of the vibration motors is a little broken.
