Possible 50Hz/60Hz issue with NBCSN Extra Time channels

I have had this general issue with my Xbox one since its release.

When I watch HD channels that are part of the NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) "Extra Time" package (on Uverse, 63116 area code, these are channels in the 1690s), HDMI handshaking is difficult with my television. If the video does work, I get no audio from this
channel. My audio is fed via optical from the Xbox one to my stereo system.

When I watch this channel on another TV in my house, there is no audio or video issue - it works as expected.

I have a theory that these NBCSN "Extra Time" channels are feeds directly from UK, and therefore are 50hz. My Xbox One is set at 60Hz, since the large majority of my channels are broadcast at 60Hz.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is this a known issue with the Xbox One?

    :)

Will Xbox One convert PAL to NTSC

It should be ok, with Modern TV's it's not so much of an issue.

The Xbox can accept a 50hz PAL signal and will display it on a 60hz NSTC TV if you are using HDMI.

If your TV can handle a 50hz signal, then this will get rid of the stutter and the Xbox will automatically switch between 50hz and 60hz as needed if you enable it in the video settings.

XBOX360S HDMI - Works on 1 TV but not others

Is it possible that the refresh rate setting has flipped between 50Hz and 60Hz? So let's say old TV was 50Hz, when you used it on the Samsung it automatically changed to 60Hz and now 50Hz TVs cannot pick it up and display the signal (or vice versa)... Fairly
long shot here, but it's worth looking at if you can.

Let us know how you get on. If it's not that we'll have to think of something else to try... :)

Xbox one s does not allow 60Hz in advanced video settings but my TV supports it

Okay, gotcha! Thanks for all the extra info and your patience. :)

So, the difference between 50hz and 60hz is mostly dependent on where in the world you are located, literally. The US tends to use 60hz while places such as Europe use 50hz. If your TV is an American model, the fact that it will not utilize 50hz is a total
non-issue unless you are planning an overseas move sometime. >>This is a good overview of 50/60hz.<< Knowing that, that
means that your TV is automatically working at 60hz from the get-go and you would only want to select 50hz if your TV supported both and you were in a region where 60hz was not supportable.

Now, if your TV supports 4K upscaling, the ideal setup is to have your TV do the upscaling work vs the Xbox One S console. If you set your console resolution to 1080p, the TV should take that and then upscale it on its own. When you're looking at your video/display
settings on your console, those boxes you're checking off are for native content to pass through. Since your TV doesn't support 50hz, that is why you cannot select that as it won't be able to pass through natively.

Hopefully that helps clarify a bit. If that doesn't and you still have questions, please post back and we'll work through it. :)
