    Port-restricted NAT

Ok I know there are multiple posts about this....but you guys are talking in terms that I don't understand.....I consider myself pretty much computer savvy...but i know nothing about port forwarding and upnp and stuff like that...I don't know what a dmz
or static ip is or anything....

what i do know is...last night for the first time since I've gotten my xbox one, which was day one, I started lagging and getting a "retrying connection" message while playing titanfall...I've never check my settings before but I'm pretty sure my NAT type
was open....I would sometimes get moderate on my xbox360 but simply testing the connection would open the NAT. How do I open my NAT type On xbox one tho?

ive tried the multiplayer connection, and then bumpers and triggers fix but that just results in the "Your network is behind a port-restricted NAT" message. Just FYI, I am using wireless and the strength is 80%. I don't really want to do the energy saver
mode because the way my house and system is set up it would be a pain to not be able to turn it on with my voice. I actually use the voice controls a lot. Anyhow, I'm located in Westchester County, NY and have verizon fios and I'm using they router that they
have supplied. My download speed is 31.52 and my upload speed is 26.75 with 0% packet loss on both download and upload.

    HELP....

FYI I just played a game of titanfall and it didn't lag at all....everything was actually fine, but I want to fix this now just to avoid future interruptions. Thank you

    :)

Your network is behind port restricted NAT

They have slower internet and you are wondering why your connection is slower?

Depends on the router on how to disable NAT or make NAT less intense. We will need your service provider (at the place that has restrictive NAT) and the router they have.

Those will help us reconfigure a router / modem with different nat settings.

Your network is behind port restricted NAT

Opening my NAT type through my modem and port forwarding my Xbox, as well as some extra tweaking the official Xbox website recommended, fixed all my connection issues.

For accessing my devices, I type in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar, enter my username and password which is usually "admin" and "password" for most people, go to advanced settings, go to WAN setup, change NAT filtering to open and disable SIP ALG. It may be a bit different for you depending on what modem you're using. After doing this, check out the links I posted. Good luck.

    Port-restricted NAT

First, try enabling UPnP on your router, reboot the Xbox One (hold power for 10 seconds), test, and see if that now reports open NAT. If not, your router is like many home models and has a broken UPnP implementation. You'll need to manually forward ports
in that case. Please delete all Xbox related port forwards, disable DMZ, forward ONLY the following ports to the Xbox, and reboot the Xbox:

    88 UDP

    3074 TCP and UDP

and if you have COD Ghosts, also:

    3075 TCP and UDP

    3076 TCP and UDP

If you need help setting up the port forwards, go to www.portforward.com and follow the guide for your model router.

Honestly....you are speaking a different language. How do I enable UPnP on my router? How do I delete related port forwards? How do I disable DMZ? What is a DMZ?

You do all of those things by logging in to the web interface of your router. Instructions will vary depending on what router you have. So, start with the guides at portforward.com and use Google as needed. If you still have problems, post more information
about your modem, router, and network setup.

The fix in multiplayer connection test is tried and true, the only issue is it can take multiple times to function correctly. I once did this 10 times before my NAT become Open.

To the extent that "fix" works, all it does is workaround some problem/bug the One has with correctly detecting then reporting your NAT status. It does not and cannot magically open your NAT if your router is not actually properly configured to be open.
The only way to get open NAT is to use a router with good, working UPnP--in which case the One will automatically open the ports it needs--or manually forward the necessary ports via port forwards, port triggers, or DMZ (don't use DMZ!). From OP's post,
it doesn't sound like OP has configured his/her router yet.

Then your router has working UPnP, which the Xbox One is using to automatically forward the needed ports. Or, more likely its UPnP is somewhat broken or slow to respond, and each time you do the "fix" the Xbox repeats the UPnP port forward request and after
enough time the router responds and forwards the port (at which time the One reports open NAT). The point is, if you truly have open NAT, the required ports are in fact being forwarded to your One by some method, either via UPnP or manually.

what about if you've always had an open NAT behind a cone NAT and all of a sudden it's moderate behind a restricted nat?

A fix for to get your NAT opened.

Full cone NAT: Not very restrictive. all ports (incoming and outgoing) are able to reach to the device without being restricted

IP restrictive NAT : Has restrictions on incoming IPs but allows ports

Port restrictive NAT: Has restrictions on ports and incoming IPs

Symmetric NAT: very restrictive, new mapping for every different connection.
