Poor range of Xbox One controller

I have very poor range of my controller. Is working ok when I sit on sofa (3m) but when I will go to my bedroom ( 3.5m
in the opposite direction) it is disconnecting for second or two when I am playing forza. I try switch off router, I have installed latest update for controller fresh batteries but nothing works. I never had that problem
with 360. I do not know if console is faulty or controller or just wireless range of new controller is very poor. Do you have any ideas??

I have had my xbox one replaced due to constant disconnects. The replacement is better when playing alone but as soon as there is a second player/controller it disconnects every 30secs to a minute. My console is in an closet about 10m from the TV and I
sit in between the two. Never had these problems with my 360 or PS3. I think I may return it and go PS4 as this is a joke.

MS needs to wake up and address the problem rather than pretending it's not there. Surely it can't be difficult to make a USB connected range extender or something?

I have the same problem. I have my xbox one in the living room but I have a long hdmi extention from the living room to my room TV whenever I want to play games in my room. I mainly play COD in there but whenever I plug in the mic it cuts off (remote and
mic) disconnects and my character goes crazy. I can not play with the mic connected because it will turn off the remote. What I did just now was that I used my PS4 USB cable and and plugged it into the xbox one cable so it could stay powered by a USB power
source. I went and played a few games with the mic and it never shut off, I will do further testing tomorrow.

 

Not sure what the range is to be honest.

If you check the Xbox One Support Forums ( I'll put the link below ) there is quite a few threads with people reporting controller disconnects, possible fixes etc.

Even though the problem stopped for me after an update, I use to get random controller disconnects when I was in front of the console, odd thing is someone suggested turning Kinect "off" in the settings and it stopped it so it might be worth turning Kinect
off in the settings and seeing if it stops it, either way though it will probably worth you checking the Support forums or phoning Xbox Support and see what they suggest.

I tried disconecting kinect but no change. I looked through threads and I cannot see any good solution. What is your range? I will try borrow controller and test during easter

 

Have you tried re-synching your controller to see if that helps?

I've got my Xbox One on now, just walked to the kitchen and put the kettle on with the controller with me and it hasn't disconnected and I was just under 20ft from my console.

You've tried fresh batteries so other than what I've already mentioned about trying to re-synch the controller, some info about it and other trouble shooting tips in link below, your best bet would be to contact Xbox Support, I'm sure they will get it sorted
for you.

The range is supposed to be 30ft, 10m. Obviously that's reduced if there are walls to contend with, or it's not a straight line.

Updating the controller firmware in Settings and powercycling the console are things worth trying.

 

I updated controller yesterday batteries are brand new I will try re sync controller and l will let you know if it's ok or not

 

In case it's not clear, this is what I mean by power cycling the console:

It's not the same as simply turning it off and on.

It's essentially long-pressing the power button, but this fixes so many issues.

 

Tried power cycle re sync controller even turned console pointing my bedroom and i get little improvement it is not disconnecting so often but still does. I will call Microsoft after easter maybe is some fault with console or controller

I know you said you tried fresh batteries but was it from the same set you had, whether they be rechargeable or disposable? I ask because a few times in the past I've purchased rechargeables that didn't quite charge properly and disposable that were more
or less just that straight out of the box lol. So if possible it might be worth trying a different set of batteries just in case.

If it still doesn't work then contacting Microsoft is your best bet, my experience with Support has always been excellent. Mind you where did you buy the console? if it was at a local high street store and Support think it's a faulty console/pad then just
take it back and get it replaced.

I have enelop sanyo rechargeable batteries I will try duracell. Console bought in John Lewis.

 

Mine disconnects when popping down stairs for a mid game snack (starts flashing then reconnects) didnt happen with the 360, its annoying when talking to someone and it occurs.

 

Try fresh duracell batteries no improvement stil rubbish signal I think it's time to call Microsoft
