Funny - I am the other way now. I used to think it would be important to have backwards compatibility but now I just want them to advance the one further and get new games out there. However, I still have not bought the One yet and am enjoying the 360
immensely. I do, however, want MS to convince me that purchasing the one is a good thing and they need more work yet.

  3. I know if these next-gen consoles had BC I would have jumped on them much sooner. Between my 360 and ps3, there's just too many for me to jump ship and leave them behind completely. But that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Emulation is a lot of work.

    @Pryramidhead

Not to mention aside from a few next games the graphics still look close to each other as devs want to take advantage of both consoles and the large user base from last gen. In addition the deals we are getting on 360 dlc / market place and games with gold
    is great.

There are 3 next gen games I want. Mortal Kombat 10, destiny and The a Golf Club Game. I am still on the fence though what platform I will settle on. I will keep the 360 and my live account regardless and if it means I need a new subscription for the other
    platform so be it.

the one is really coming along now but it may be too little too late. I am also a firm believer that both next gens were rushed out 6 months too early at least.

I've still yet to see one good argument as to why not having backwards compatibility is ok. I see plenty wrong with not having it though. One reason is going/gone into open beta.

  6. Hello "Burst Axe" Pondering Backwards Compatibility :)

Backwards Compatibility on the Xbox 360 with Original Xbox games is MOSTLY a miss as the emulation software pretty much made Original Xbox games unplayable due to bugs & glitches.

I don't know how Microsoft is going to switch things around to the point where "only some Xbox 360 games will be unplayable" on the Xbox One due to bugs / glitches as opposed to "most of the Xbox 360 games will be unplayable".

With that being said, I don't know anything about programming / game development; but it must be an unimaginable nightmare to compensate for the Xbox 360's missing hardware on the Xbox One.

Have a nice day or afternoon or night Pondering Backwards Compatibility :)

@Leifang The only two games I own on Original Xbox (Jade Empire and Ninja Gaiden) work just fine on 360 so I don't know anything about bugs in the emulation software.

I was also in full support of them adding the 360 chipset to the Xbox One before release as its the easier way to implement BC on these systems. Being able to trade in the old system (due to no longer needing the old system to play the old games) would've
    mitigated any price increases.

Financially and conveniently speaking from the consumer side there is no reason why BC was not included for us. It was kept out simply to charge us for stuff we already own (at brand new or hiked up prices) and to save the big corporations money. The legit
reasons for gamers to rage about stuff are always glossed over by trivial things.

TLPondering Backwards Compatibility :DR Like your older games keep them and your console or hope there is enough incentive for a HD remake or port to the new system. Still means you will still have to buy the game again, but at least it will be better.

I would think if they spent the time and money to create a working emulation for backwards compatibility I would think would be easier than the 360 original Xbox emulation since there was no transition on the GPU Nvidia to AMD/ATI and AMD/ATI has been pretty
good on the PC side of making new GPU/APU revisions have a method of reproducing low level GPU specific features of previous designs at least in the APUs I have tested my own programs on.

Last gen to me pretty much proved people didn't care all that much about backwards compatibility. Sony stopped putting the PS2 Emotion engine into PS3s fairly early to cut costs, and MS stopped working on emulation around the same time. Any games with enough
fan support that would sell seemed to get HD remakes anyways which Sony and MS are already milking with Master Chief collection, Last of Us, and Tomb raider definitive which do to the way the it was made was easier to port over and I suspect even more titles.

I know the only games games I got to work correctly from my Xbox to 360 was Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Gaiden Black, and Halo 2. I bought Mercenaries because I saw it on the backwards compatible list, but didn't read the full compatibility notes which basically
said it would have graphic bugs and at a certain point in the campaign the game would crash making it impossible to complete the campaign. Honestly I wished I just had my Xbox, but let a buddy borrow it and he let it get stolen =/. Never making that mistake
again and keeping all my consoles and games.

Honestly I would have thought Nintendo would have been milking emulation to sell older titles digitally especially with how prolific people modifying their consoles to run homebrew community made emulators which is basically makes every game going back to
    the NES playable on it.

  9. I've grown used to not having BC on the Xbox One. I think the only 2 problems I had were the fact that there are plenty of great games on the 360 I still wanted to play and that the size of my game space is very limited. Having BC would of saved me a lot
of backwards and forwards (swapping the console and hooking it up to my TV and vice versa ect..).

Since then, I have cleared enough space to fit them side by side so I'm good with it but if they did somehow fix it to become BC then I would be happy but at the moment, its no loss either way Pondering Backwards Compatibility :)

  10. Not that long ago I read an article on ign that Microsoft is trying to make bc happen. It's just a way of knowing how to implement it into the xbox one. I'm sure they will figure out a way to bring it to us. Either that or remastering some of the more popular
exclusives would be ok with me .i would rather have bc though.

I still have my Original Xbox and I don't intend ot get rid of my Xbox 360 Pondering Backwards Compatibility :)

With that being said, there is no substitute for the original console; but I am still hoping that some day a backwards compatibility emulator will work exactly like the original console that it is emulating Pondering Backwards Compatibility :)
