Political Advertisements on XBox

I opened my dashboard today, and what do I see in every single advertising spot? Political ads. All the same ad, all from the same politician.

Personally, I would prefer that there NOT be political ads on my XBox, but hey, we all know that Microsoft likes getting paid.

On the main dashboard there are 5 windows for advertisements. I propose that if Xbox insists on running ads of a political nature that each candidate be given a 30 second spot that plays in rotation with the other all of the other candidates in one or two
windows at most. The rest of the windows would be normal commercial advertising.

I also believe that all candidates in a race must be allowed to participate, and a candidate who cannot afford or chooses not to purchase an ad would still get a 30 second placeholder that simply states their name, affiliated party and the race that they
are running in.

As it stands right now, it sure seems like XBox/Microsoft is promoting a particular candidate in my area, and I don't feel that XBox should be trying to force a particular candidate on me, especially not on a service that I am paying for where I don't have
the option to remove those ads.

Please do not turn this thread into a political debate EMW80. People are very sensitives about their politics and it can easily derail threads such as this.

Everyone has their point of view, and everyone is entitled to it. However these are the xbox forums and this was a post about the Xbox. Iets leave political debates for a political forum

Hi, it was an advertisement on the Xbox.

 

Do you think those politicians get those adverts for free?

They probably paid a fortune to get a prime spot on the xbox dashboard and i`m sure microsoft would gladly take their money.

Microsoft are a business,they will take money off almost anyone.

I am sure if that politicians opposition wants to buy some ad space,they will take their money too.

It actually amazes me when people are bothered by ads on the dash.

Its just one little square in the corner of the screen,you don`t need to watch or hear it if you don`t click on it.

Its not like you have to watch these ads before you can play a game,just ignore them.

Yeah... let's all be glad this hasn't happened yet. That, or Master Chief's power armor looking like a Nascar jumpsuit, covered in corporate logos. *ponders that for a moment* On second though, I would love to watch Master Chief doing TV ad spots for mundane
products.

My problem is not with advertising, my problem is that they are POLITICAL ads, from ONE party and ONE candidate.

Yes i get that,what i am saying is that ONE politician paid for his advert to promote himself,if his opposition wants to pay i am sure he can get his advert on there to.

This is not microsoft taking sides,its a business selling advertisement space to whoever wants it.
