    Link.

He is probably just one of the people if even at all. Even though I was not affected by this on Xbox, I still hope they all get caught and punished to the fullest just because it was a (insert curses here) thing to do.

Hopefully UK police take this seriously and punish the scumbags who did it.

    :)

i test my xbox live connection and it all works until it gets to live and a thing pops up saying 'a problem occurred while singing in please try again if the problem persists vist www.xbox.com/support'

hey its ok not yer fault hackers are flooding XBL give them a chance to fix it they have to prolly find and arrest them to stop it it is a flood so that means they mass log in and crashXBL not XBLs fault these hackers did this to PSN and others.

I'm sure UK authorities will take the matter more seriously, US authorities probably won't give a toss. Australian and NZ authorities would respond if anyone over here dos attacked anything as it is written law over here. But if they live in the US, well,
good luck. Microsoft Sony and ISP's should fight back against them like track them down (it's not impossible, some companies including ISP's may have the resources to by investigating). And if and when they're in prison, all they'll see on the HDTV in their
food eating area is us playing and having fun on XBL or PSN and they can't do anything for it, maze well keep them in their for 10 years and rub it in. Because that's the kind of misery it's like interfering with a service which is meant to give us fun on
the weekends, holidays, and especially after school or work. A service which is not meant to have any targeted disruption to it.

Lizard Squad was also mentioned on Australian television last week when I was in Sydney. They said they dos attacked the servers again.

  5. To be fair, a DDoS does not warrant a 10 year sentence-more a large fine and reparations/six months in minimum security. Nobody was endangered by this crime and as such I feel it should not warrant a massive penalty. Let's keep things in perspective, it
was an entertainment thing and nothing more.

While I would expect the investigation to be taken seriousness, I think the punishment needs to fit the crime but I doubt there is sufficient legislation to make it simple, and even if there is judging this individual involvement is another thing to consider.

however I am not sure how inconveniencing millions and damaging the reputation of billion dollar companies and loss of business is going to be evaluated.

It's still a crime. Laws are made to govern peoples behaviour.

In the Police and Justice Act 2006, the United Kingdom specifically outlawed denial-of-service attacks and set a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. Australian Federal Police, and The Crimes Act 1961 for NZ. Cuz I know many on XBL would get annoyed when
someone ruins the fun by interfering with a big service. These sick people think it's a joke. It's not entertainment if it breaks laws which different countries have.

But how many people have been tried and convicted of this law, I doubt its very many and I am not convinced that the system is behind the law.

Why do you think they would get away with it in the US? It's illegal here and if I'm not mistaken we have the largest prison population in the world, we still have capital punishment so we don't have a problem punishing bad guys.

lol this sounds like the kind of post that says "I think they may be watching so I better say something in their defense." haha

Well anyway, I don't feel sorry for them at all and even less so after reading that they are now looking to be hired for their services which I found laughable.

Didnt the US pass some law a few back that crimes committed on the internet are now felonies?

The prime legislation in the UK is the Computer Misuse Act the legislation SB refers to makes supplementary amendments to it. Considering the sentences handed out by UK courts (Mags and Crown). For serious crimes of robbery, sexual assault, murder I fully
expect this person to sentenced to a long all expenses paid Caribbean holiday with a new car thrown in for good measure. As for the law enforcement regimes in the UK and US I personally admire the more hardline approach of the U.S.

One thing that really suprises me about the US justice system is the lack of inmate care and in such a sueing culture they isn't any high profile cases of the justice system being sued by prior imates.

    @Enen

Our inmates receive better care in the US than probably anywhere in the world. We have inmates in our country that have a better quality of life than many honest citizens that are working two jobs and are barely getting by.

You'll see a lawsuit here is a couple weeks from a facility that isn't letting the inmates watch the SuperBowl......happens every year. We had a lawsuit in my area several years back because the soft serve ice cream makers were removed from the inmates "dorms"
because of budget constraints.....poor guys, must have been horrible.

  15. I think they owe each gamer on both XBL and PSN a $5 XBL/PSN gift card to make up for their loss. I think that would be a reasonable settlement. And lets see...with 110 million PSN users and 48 million XBL users, that would be almost $800 million in fees.
