Point of a Avatar

All players will no longer be able to use their avatars once the Xbox 360 disestablishes. Maybe you'll get refunded for all the avatar gears you bought once that day comes.

 

I'm also thinking that the Avatars days are numbered.

They've now removed them from the Games app of Windows 8.

 

I kind of like them to be honest but it's clear that Microsoft don't believe they fit in the Xbox brands future.

 

The avatars are in silverlight, technology is pushing forward and in the very near future there maybe better options than silverlight (some would say there already are), IMO its in MS interests to focus on the really important stuff, and when they think
its time, to re plan how its going to work or run, i doubt its going but they have better things to do.

Fixing Party Chat IMO is far more important than avatars, although it seems developers have a lot more control over this than they realise.

 

I really liked then when they first came out especially when they started having games where you could use your avatar. Sadly now there isn't much of a point. However I still like using them as a gamerpic. Gives a little personality to my profile.

 

I liked them for numerous reasons:

1) Further personalization of profile.

2) Infinitely customizable.

3) Adds personal appearance in many games.

4) Can use as gamerpic.

5) Can get free avatar items.

6) It made advertising more entertaining or worth looking at.

Think about it - without them we wouldn't have had awesome things like 1 vs. 100!

Sure, it may have been done through Silverlight, but that doesn't mean they can't recreate it through newer and better processes.

 

Brilliant things if your twelve.

 

get rid of them as they are useless. pointless waste of dev time for both consoles

I like how geek put it. Avatars is very dominant on xbox 360 cuz its a... ta da.... XBOX LIVE FEATURE just like voice messaging. On xbox 1 it feels more windows 8 style even though its a higher resolution. You can shop for virtual stuff how cool is that
buy props and stuff. Its better than your profile looking like a drivers licence or passport and it adds to the fun especially for younger peps.
