Plugging in Headphones to Controller causes controller to disconnect/die

    Hi,

This morning, while playing Titanfall, I connected my Stereo Headphones to my controller, and my controller died. I then turned on my 2nd controller, connected my Stereo Headphones, and it also died. I swapped out the batteries for fresh ones, can the same
    thing happened.

Is anyone else having this issue?

    :)

UPDATE: I just got a NYKO Charge base, and the headphones also drain it the hell out of it. Should I just bring back my headphones?

Yup, I came here just now to research this same exact problem. Started 2 nights ago. My controller died for no reason (the batteries were pretty fresh) so I swapped out for new batteries and no luck. Unplugged my headset and lo and behold the controller
worked. Tried plugging the headset back in several times. Each time it would "kill" the controller.

To make matters worse. The next day I tried turning on my One using my controller and that wouldn't even work. I took the batteries out and popped them back in again and it finally worked. Without the headset plugged in, of course.

Of note, I treat my controllers like gold. No tantrum throws or dropping them anywhere. I'd update the controller, but don't have the usb cable to do so.

    Headphones

If your headphones have a 3.5 mm jack and your controller supports it then simply plug the headphones into the hole in the front of the controller. If the controller does not have the jack then you'll need to purchase a headphone adapter for the controller.

    Xbox X controllers disconnecting

This does seem to be a thing.

After experimenting around, it seems to be related (in my case) to when I unplug my headphones from the controller and plug them into some other device like my switch.

Play around on switch etc, plug it back into Xbox controller again.. that’s when the trouble seems to start.

Especially if the Xbox was turned off at the time, sometimes I can’t even start the Xbox back up using that controller after plugging headphone back in controller.

Disconnecting the wire from the controller itself doesn’t make the difference, unplugging the entire cable from the USB port and plugging that back in, does make the difference.

Very very weird and i can reproduce it to an extent.
