you can always make the suggestion via the Xbox Insiders Reddit however do bare in mind the Xbox Live Gold does not just let you play online, it offers savings on games,
Games with Gold each month and it helps to keep the service maintained and running.

sign up for Microsoft Rewards and get Game Pass Ultimate so you can do the Game Pass Quests and you will be able to save up enough Reward Points to renew the subscription (you could stick with just Live Gold if you only want to play Fortnite and you wont
have to save up as many points to renew it)

The price is not too expensive, but I understand some people can't afford it. Maybe you could ask your family or friend to give you a digital code for an Xbox Live subscription as a present? Especially now that is Xmas, or maybe for your birthday.

Try to save money every time you can so you can buy one for yourself too.

You might want to look into gamepass ultimate if its available in your region. Xbox live provides a lot more than just online gaming - it has cloud saving etc.

fortnight is crossplay though, so if you have a smarphone, or a pc, you can play on that online for free
