    Plex not working properly


    On XBOX 360 the Plex service is not working. The app loads my library of media fine as it should but then says "There was an error communicating with your Plex Media Server. Make sure it's turned on and accessible and try again."

    Of course, it is on. I tried accessing the same media from a different device and it worked fine. - so its not my Plex Media Server.

    My xbox 360 has a wired connection and I have tried turning the machine off and re-starting without success.

    I tried accessing other apps like Netflix, and though it was slower than it normally seems, I could load and watch media in there

    so it seems the problem is with Plex on the Xbox 360

    Does Xbox One Play MKV Video Files?

    Plex media server working fine for me, pushed from mac mini to xbox one via DLNA Plex not working properly :)

    Ps mkv working fine.

    hi im havin a problem playing online with my friends... every time im tryin to join there server or they join my server it says server full or unavailable

    can someone helps me pls!!!!

    This is still happening. Is this actually a support forum for answers or just a community board to complain about stuff that doesn't get resolved?

    Hey there Gdot69,

    I'm sorry to hear about the issue. When you have some time set aside, let's try out some troubleshooting steps to see if we can get Plex to play nicely with your Xbox 360 console again.

    • Uninstall Plex from your Xbox 360 console.
    • Clear your Xbox 360 console's cache three times.
    • Reinstall Plex again to your Xbox 360 console and launch it.
    • Sign in to your Plex account and see if you can use the app as you normally would.
    If those steps don't do the trick, please post back and let me know. Thanks in advance!

    Giving your suggestion a shot Miss Diggz... same exact thing happened here this week as well...

    Seems to me like it was related to a Plex Server update that I downloaded Monday or Tuesday. Can see my Plex Media Library through our 360 but get the same message when trying to play anything (movie/tv/etc...)

    Removed Plex from the 360 and just cleared the cache x3 and redownloading/installing Plex... will post up results in a few...

    Confirming that Miss Diggz suggestion does not fix the issue... Same exact error message comes up when trying to play media through the 360 Plex App.

    "There was an error communicating with your Plex Media Server. Make sure it's turned on and accessible and try again."

    Getting frustrated here... no changes to any of the systems (PC that runs my Plex server or the Xbox), have made sure the correct ports are forwarded (32400 for Plex and shared), PC's IP address is set to be the exact same every time... so no clue, one day
    it worked, the next it doesn't...

    Plex Forums are suggesting that it IS related to the latest Plex Server upate - 0.9.12.3 but users have reported that uninstalling and reinstalling the previous version - 0.9.12.2 it works again... *ugh*... more computer time "fixing" instead of playing...

    It IS the 0.9.12.3 Plex Server update that is culprit.

    As of now, to fix you need to uninstall your current 0.9.12.3 version and reinstall version 0.9.12.2... just did this and viola... working like a charm again.

    And don't worry about having to configure the server again, all settings where still there (remote access through port 32400 for example)...

    Hope this helps and remember, don't have auto updates on after you reinstall... hopefully Plex will fix the problem but in the mean time... this works...

    Sorry for bringing up the old post, but is there any solutions yet for this problem. Tried to uninstall and reinstall Plex on my server but still no solution. Even redo my whole Plex and still nothing. Please help...

    It IS the 0.9.12.3 Plex Server update that is culprit.

    As of now, to fix you need to uninstall your current 0.9.12.3 version and reinstall version 0.9.12.2... just did this and viola... working like a charm again.

    And don't worry about having to configure the server again, all settings where still there (remote access through port 32400 for example)...

    Hope this helps and remember, don't have auto updates on after you reinstall... hopefully Plex will fix the problem but in the mean time... this works...
