I bought that other console used for cheap, played N, Drake and sold it for a bit of a profit a month later. No regrets.

Day One editions, if memory serves. Had a host of problems, so if you can double your $ do it and use that $ to pick up a X1/PS4-S (yes they exist) model instead.

 

Excellent point that I didn't think of. The first version of tech is usually riddled with issues. Thank you for pointing that out. Kudos are owed.

Guess all those 'gamers' were just PS4 fanboy's posting about nonexistant problem. For MS is a god who's hardware/software never fails eh.

 

^ There was no widespread issues with Day One consoles. There were a few reports of disc drive problems but nothing across the board,, so yes useless advice as usual.

 

You have to take most anything Electro says with a grain of salt, he's the local conspiracy theorist who's convinced MS (and the rest of the world) is after him.

There were no widespread issues with day one consoles. After a few years, the failure rate has been in line with typical electronics, as should be expected. The only "host of problems" after launch were the typical setup issues and of course a few consoles
with legit issues, which again, was in line with what should have been expected with a product launch.

Good luck selling the console on eBay, but if it doesn't sell, don't be too worried about Electro's attempt to scare you.

I'd just keep it. You will need to redownload everything and set it all up. It's more of an annoyance than anything. It doesn't take too long though.

I'd recommend looking at places like eBay for a gold membership for a good price. Every month your son will have 4 extra games at no extra cost as long as you keep being a gold member. The 1st and 16th of each month is when new games become available for
you to download.

When you get all set up go to the marketplace and check out the free game section. Lots of decent freebies there.

I'd also look into getting an external hard drive. You can get them cheap. I got a 1tb for €50.

What age is your son? Maybe we can recommend some games.

We were discussing the Xbox One, not the original Xbox, not the 360, and not the elite controller. If you can't keep up with the conversation, perhaps it's best not to try and join in at all.

And still out of everything you mentioned, only RROD was actually a widespread issue. Quality of the elite controller is definitely questionable, but still irrelevant to a Day One Xbox One.

Things like reality, the actual device's history and actual failure rate are what's relevant. You're trying to claim that the Day One's had some kind of widespread quality issues and there's absolutely no stats or otherwise that would backup that claim.

You obviously can't say the same about the 360, but MS actually does seem to have put out a well built console this time (even if that did mean making it the size of a VCR).

 

Yeah Electro, I'm sorry mate, but you are blowing a bit of hot air here. There were the normal instance of issues with day one consoles as any other electronics product and two of mine are still working perfectly fine without having ever sent them off for
repair and both have 100's of hours into them (one actually has 1000's). Now something to note is the controller quality is really, really poor on the day one consoles, that I can agree with.

OP, I personally would have just kept the console as I would have factored time and effort into the equation and the enjoyment/moral boost my child could be receiving from the console straight away which would mean a lot to me over the monetary value if
he'd just been through that experience, but hey, you do what you think is best. Hope you achieve want you want out of it.

 

%50 of day one consoles blew up on opening, so the remaining ones should be ok.
