Cheesy, if you use a static color your tiles should automatically be opaque.

 

The fact that people come on this site and complain about the console, when it's blatantly obvious they just haven't bothered to check into all of its features and understand how they are supposed to work is just downright stupid. Sorry but it is. Add to
this, the fact that they also make a post that's a WOT, which is H.O.R.R.I.B.L.E. to read.

I'm writing this post left to right.

There's simply no excuse for many of the issues found in these kind of posts, yet the forums have been here for well over a year and it's STILL NOT FIXED. FIX. THESE. POSTS. PLEASE.

There are other issues, but I feel they may be nitpicking...

I can't believe so many people have so many problems with the Xbox One, granted i've only owned one for two months, but I haven't had a single problem.

I must the the only person in the world who got an amazing Xbox One. Lucky me!

 

Like Goatsnatcher said on the first page, most of the XOne's interface issues are just products of an emergency refit after killing the mandatory Kinect. I hadn't realized just how unintuitive it is after getting a PS4 last month. Sony's machine strips
everything down to a very simple design, and navigating it is a breeze. I'm guessing that at some point there will be a major overhaul that will produce a much different dashboard.

Being a longtime Xbox fan, I always assumed that the One would do everything better than the PS4 when it comes to parties and messaging. I was shocked to discover that the PS4 has a much more stable party system, with very few of the issues that arise with
the One.

I'm enjoying both consoles immensely, but I think the One still has a number of kinks to work out.

 

while i don't agree with the OP's reasoning, i do think things like backgrounds, translucent tiles and screenshots and whatever else are "low hanging fruit" and wish they'd work on bug fixes and optimizing before the superficial stuff.

other than that, there was a small learning curve to the new UI, i'm completely happy with it, snap works with Kinect and the controller every time for me, i also have no issue with the design of the party app, apps and games close without delay when i hit
the menu button and select quit.

but they will never please everyone, bet we would most likely plenty of people complain if MS just copied the 360 dashboard over.

 

Nope had mine since launch with no significant issues.

 

There is alot wrong with this UI, the OP is correct about that. To be honest the entire layout isnt really very good. It doesnt seem to be just Microsoft though, in my opinion UI development seems to have taken a few steps back almost everywhere over the
last 5 or 6 years. Sonys new layout isnt as good as thier old one (which wasnt great), the netflix app for example is much worse then it was in 2008, etc. I think the drivers behind these developments are focusing on giving you good access to what THEY want
you to access, instead of what YOU want to access.

 

Having been on the verge of giving up on the Xbox one more than a few times, I can full understand the OPs frustration. I got my on day one. Since then I actually think things have gotten worse. Yesterday alone I had to do three hard resets. Two due to the
endles party issues and once because my games simply wouldn't start. Mostly it works fine but seriously the party issues are the worst. How many times I've joined and can't hear my friends but they can hear me. Or I join and they can't here me but I can hear
them. Or a friend joins a party I'm in and it crashes the whole party. Or simply no one can talk. Seriously I could go on. Simple fact is, given that most aspects of games and Xbox live for that matter, are based around multiplayer and gamer communication,
this is the worst aspect of your console that could be flawed! It's the one main frustrating complaint I have and in my opinion, it's a huge one!

 

Dufful, you're right about the party issues; they're bad, need to be fixed, and is easily the biggest issue by far. That being said, I don't believe the XB1 has gotten worse since it released. Just pouring through the monthly updates exhaustive list of fixes
and adjustments proves that, I think. Still, as with anything, new updates may also mean new bugs. I believe the party issues simply fall into that category. Thankfully, the developers are aware of it and are working on it, so it's only a matter of time before
the party system is running at full throttle.

 

Makes me wonder if all the big fixes will come with windows 10.

 

GG while I can agree that they have made great strides in improving the Xbox one by adding new features and fixing certain things, I myself am certainly noticing a lot more glitches than when I first got it. The big one, yes is the party system. In my opinion
this has had problems since day one. It works somewhat better than release month, but is still a huge mess.

Other things that a bugging me lately that never happened before! Middle of a match of bf4,Cod or destiny, intense firefight, edge of your seat stuff, do or die and what happens? My controller stops working for a second. Never happened at release! And yes
I've updated, all three that I own! They all do it! And I'm not the only one! All my friends get the same issue!

Another favourite is, Xbox on, put in game, won't start!!! Awesome, another hard reset! Sooooooo irritating!

Look I'm not bashing on xbox but seriously. They have added all this cool stuff but have not fixed the most basic, and for that matter, important aspects of the console! I mean come on! How bad is it when you can't even keep your controller connected! Geez.
I'm a patient guy. I went through 4 red rings of death and still didn't give up. But these things are sooo frustrating!

 

I feel your pain Dufful, I to wish they would fix what is there rather than focusing on new stuff.

I hope your right Goat as something as simple as the friends list should work without any hiccups.

 

Oh yes there is another thing! Friends list! We are unable to show your friends now! Every single day! Grrrrrrrr

 

I did a Youtube video a few of me playing Kinect Sports Rivals earlier this week. In the video, I tried to load friends list to show off Kinect Voice Commands. "it may be a problem on our end" "unable to load your friends". It would kind of be embarrassing
for the world to see Microsoft unable to load a simple feature on the Dashboard ;D I have open NAT so peps don't say I have crap internet because it's an issue on Microsofts end. They really need to improve the UI. It acts like it wants to be more of a Windows
8 UI than an Xbox UI. Xbox 360's current UI is the role model, it takes less time on that UI to load friends list, achievements, and messages, with the controller, than it does for Xbox 1's UI. And yes I did a comparison video of that on my YT channel too.
