Please separate Discussion from Support

The problem is that this forum was designed with customer support in mind. That the original post in a thread stays at the top of each page is pretty much proof of this. I don't believe Microsoft do care much about this forum however, and it's not just them
as a company. After all why pay to maintain a forum when you can shuffle people off to Reddit for example and make that company suffer the bandwidth burden.

I don't believe that the PS4 Pro or Xbox One X are wise purchases. Each system refresh is handicapped by the fact that the base consoles must run every game that they do. So yes you'll be getting some higher resolution textures and a few more frames per second
but is that really worth the extra cost of upgrading?

As to Playstation controllers you can buy third party ones that have the same layout as an Xbox controller. I used to have one for my PS3 and it worked perfectly with one rather big flaw. In The Last of Us you had to shake the controller to charge the in game
flashlight, since the third party controller didn't have that hardware in it, there were a few rather harrowing moments.

 

If you simply *love* consoles and your whole life - as a GAMER - has been informed by exponential leaps in technology as the years (or generations) have passed, and if you *don't* subscribe to the PC methodology (granted, that's a minuscule sub-class, but
it exists), then I've never felt more satisfied or PROUD of my console collection

I've spoken before about the sense of entitlement that seems to prevail if you're constantly upgrading - or empowering - your PC, and certainly when you look at which big games are released *across* platforms each month, I've generally found that PC players
for the most part are getting their pick of the litter (for example, games released to Xbox are cross-buy with their Windows counterparts, and a number of high-profile PS titles like Nier: Automata and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice are also available - thus
belying their console exclusivity). In this respect, I steadfastly *do* believe that my PS4 Pro has been a wise purchase...

Because the true platform exclusives - like the Uncharted games, the Gods of War, the David Cage games, the Death Strandings - are simply *not* available anywhere else! Funny that you've mentioned the controller shake thing [TLoU] because I'm currently playing
the remastered version and every now and then that icon would appear - and I had NO IDEA why I would suddenly be asked to shake the controller. But I was using the flashlight, so now it all makes sense lol.

I should clarify. I don't believe the Xbox One X or PS4 Pro are wise purchases if you already own the base system. If a person doesn't already own either console then going for the latest version would just make sense. But if you
own a Xbox One or PS4, then paying out again for another system which will play the same games as the one you already own...well as I said, I don't see it as a wise purchase.

Why bother wasting money on either when game devs has the potential to completely eliminate the middle man (Steam, MS and Sony) by simply using your web connected 4K TV?

No more fees paid to PSN, XBL or any of their Stores. Just pay EA, Ubi etc a license fee for the game you like and MP Online is free. No more MS, Sony, or even PC builds.

 

For the same reason that OnLive went out of business. Input latency on streamed games.

The general consumer internet is nowhere near the point yet where it could handle even Faux K without significant input lag, let alone full UHD resolutions. For a turn based game that might be tolerable, though I doubt it, but could you imagine playing a FPS
or MOBA in those conditions.

Streaming games doesn't even work well, over the internet, at 1080p at the moment. The internet companies need to make significant improvement to their infrastructure before streaming becomes a viable alternative to physical or downloaded games.

 

Pretty much non of the volunteer mods are on here anymore. So they've got official support staff (paid) now monitoring. I don't blame them. The kiddy reactions and the forum is so laggy and the "Oh O, that shouldn't have happened" from a site run by the
biggest software company in the world. Apparently kids can participate on here too. I've met other kids when I was looking for more Minecraft friends in 2012, there were a few Sticky looking for friends threads which got pages of replies in the Minecraft forum
section, but someone has unstickied it and now they get multiple looking for friends threads with like 0-5 responses.

I guess there should be a Support Forum section which should be for more serious posters. As well as a General Discussion thingy for more colloquial discussions. Hey, if you ask me, they should clearly have an Off Topic section. Someone really needs to give
me the link to this! I can stay on topic too. If someone did give me the link, it would probably be some dead forum section where the last post was from 5 days ago. With this section, you'll find the same people but at least it's alive somewhat. Perhaps add
in some forum page pictures themed around the type of forum it's set in. Learn from Frontier's Planet Coaster Forum website. It has smilies for PC posters, and you can edit posts up to 30 minutes after the original post. Web pages don't struggle to load the
pages. What kind of servers do they run this site on?

O yes and talk about the hype of that new console that will be out in 2 months. You'll be hearing a lot more of me during the week X releases. Caution you may need eye drops and a sense of humor. This site needs to be formatted more better instead of having
these green . . . . o loading thingy's as these forum pages are [struggling] to load. And I have good internet.

This Xbox One is the only forum section on this site, that isn't dead. So when 10 year olds and 15 or 20 or 30 or 40 or 50 year olds on here clash, it's like a zoo in here. We also had some good volunteers monitoring on here, I'm friends with one of them.
He got on very well with the younger members. People will post here anyways because no one wants to post in a forum section where the last participation who participated on it was from 3 weeks ago. With this section, there's usually someone who's been on it
within the past 36 hours. But since Xbox One X is Xbox One, it belongs on here. Minecraft is on Xbox One, so lets talk about it here. And then draw unicorns using keyboard characters. People use to do this in the past, and it got a lot of positivity from those
in a position to monitor this site. That thread went of topic so bad, but even those who monitored it didn't lock or edit peoples posts.

Another thing, we need to reintroduce the Top 5 threads too. But thanks for giving us the ability to post memes and pictures.

 

I've had Xbox since late 2010. In 2011 and 2012 I hardly participated on here. It was usually the Minecraft and TDU2 and Halo Reach and that was it pretty much. And it was usually like 1 or 2 posts a fortnight, before I was back again. Then Xbox One in 2013.
Since then I've been more a lot more frequent on here. With all respect there has been a lot of criticism about it and feedback towards it. So it's no surprise how it's the busiest forum section. Perhaps we need to introduce a Why did I get banned section
too. I've seen floods of those popping up over recent months. I even struggled to stay away from this place since 2014, only successfully doing so for almost 2 consecutive weeks. And then someone had the nerve to create a Party Etiquette thread and when I
jumped in, everyone laughed. I guess they want you to express yourself in some way. That's why they don't bother with effectively sectioning on here. Maybe they need a section where we can talk about and compare specs too. Cause Xbox One X come November 7
2017, there's going to be a feedback flood about that on here. And everyone knows what section THAT is going to be posted on, the one which gets the most attention, this section. Another solution is to simply retire from here or take a long break.

I liked it when they use to have forum levels and signatures too. Everyone can guess what I posted in my last sig, and I got a laugh out of it while others were like................ I was Level 5 and all the cool people on here were level 5, several of the
popular ones, a girl from the UK, an American who wrote long posts, and a poster who ended with and "[gamertag]". But since they left, I don't know what I'm still doing here sometimes too. On average now I spend like up to 3 hours a week on here.

 

^I miss my forum signature it allowed me to advertise my deviant art page without breaking the rules. Not to mention a bit of humor and personality.

Signature was I like making snow angels in the rain may it rest in peace.

 

You can always do you own now. It's just that you have to manually do one.
