Hello guys i work 6-6 every monday - thursday and recently when i have come home i like to unwind on the xbox one but i press the power button and it makes the noise, lights up for around 2 seconds then goes off.. :|

Unplug it for about 30 seconds and try again.

Hard reboot fixes the majority of peoples issues.

 

That's not good then.

Your console appears to be getting power so that fact that it's not booting would normally mean a bad hard drive but it could be bad cpu, gpu or even the power supply not outputting enough power.

Unless someone else has some trick to try it looks like it'll need to get sent to Microsoft.

 

Is the light on your power supply solid white or orange? It shouldn't flicker and there should be a light.

 

Try using a different outlet and see if it works. Also make sure it's not plugged into a surge protector

 

Have to agree with Maximum. If you are using a surge protector with your Xbox One, stop using it now and either plug it directly into the mains or via a known working adapter that also doesn't have any surge protection.

I had a similar problem with my Xbox One. Mine wasn't plugged into a surge protector, but it turns out my four plug adapter wasn't working correctly which damaged my console. My replacement is plugged directly into the mains and has been working fine.

 

All of my consoles are plugged into Belkin surge protectors and they always will be, never had an issue in all the years I've been doing it. Just use a quality protector designed for computers, etc not lamps.

I live in Calif where during the summer we get power surges. We had one two weeks ago that fried my cable box, the only thing not plugged into a surge protector.

 

My frist xbox did that just call your retailer up and trade in for a working xbox or call MS. I have all my important things on a surge protectors and have No problems.

Same here. I'm using 6 of the 8 outlets on my surge protector... have everything valuable plugged into it; TV, SS Home Theatre, Cable box, X1, even my modem/router
and matrix HDMI signal splitter. No issues as of yet. Even if I did have an issue that could be traced to the power source, I'd get another surge protector and use it for the X1 alone if I had to, but no way I'd plug it into the wall without one.

As long as it plugs solidly into the wall, without any 'wiggle' at the plug, a good quality surge protector shouldn't cause any issues.

 

The reason PC and console manufacturers recommend you don't do it is that if you have half a dozen things plugged into it pulling power at the same time it can cause the devices to be underpowered.

You just need to be smart about what's plugged into each one and which of those devices are drawing power at the same time.

 

Tried all your suggestions still nothing.. Any amazing tricks or do I need a replacement?

 

The most common reason the One won't start is a bad power brick and you've ruled that out.

It appears to be something more serious and it will need to get sent in

 

Hold the power button on the console for 8-10 sec until it turns off then unplug it for 1 minute then plug it back in and power back on. Just unplugging it for 30 does nothing.
