Please help XBL disconnect/lose NAT type while playing issue

I've been having an issue for a while now where I get disconnected from game servers (esp overwatch) but I don't necessarily lose my XBL connection (tho sometimes I do). Wireless connection (I know, I know)

What happens: game lags badly, I get dropped from game, go into network settings, still connected to Wi-Fi, my NAT type is unavailable and under that it says "checking service status"... After maybe 20-30 seconds my nat returns to open I get "all services
are available" and eventually I can play another game.

So I live in an apt and I found out my landlord's daughter got an Xbox one so I figured what's been happening is we're both trying to connect to the same network = obvious problems.

Yesterday I installed a new router. Netgear X4s, enabled uPnP, thought/hoped,prayed my issues were gone but still having the same problem (20 hour suspension from overwatch to boot for "leaving").

Can anyone please help...? Getting to the point I barely play anymore bc I'm just waiting to get disconnected

Xbox connection issues HELP!!!

Why do I only disconnect from an xbox live party when a certain person joins my party? It also causes whatever game I'm playing to lag and sometimes disconnect. Really frustrating. We both have open NAT types. Otherwise connection is flawless. Even have gone into my router settings and opened all necessary ports. PLEASE HELP!!!

Are you sharing internet connection? Because this "both have open NAT types" sounds like you are sharing internet.

Hi there,

Please check the NAT type of the Xbox in network settings. You require a open nat type in order to not have issues with game and party chat. Please refer to these trouble shooting types https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/Hardware-Network/connect-network/xbox-one-nat-error

Thanks for keeping us updated. We still need to figure out the cause of this issue before we start any network troubleshooting. What is your NAT type while you are connected to your home network?

You can find your
NAT type in the Network settings. It will show you in the middle of the network settings screen. You can also select "Test NAT type" on the right side of the screen.

If your NAT type is Moderate or strict, then that could be causing this specific issue. Also, does this only happen with GTAV? Are you able to play other games online? If this is only happening to GTAv then you should try re-installing the game as suggested
above.

I went to do the multiplayer connection test and there was an error message that said: Disconnected! your network is not configured.

My type of Nat: Strict Double detected Nat

Update:

I upped the MTU on my router to 1600. XBL still randomly disconnects. Immediately after disconnect I can reconnect to XBL.

Hey JamesGolds ive had this happen many times to me while playing Grand Theft Auto V. For this issue its usally caused by NAT type. NAT type that is open youll be able to join sessions in games with no issues. Moderate NAT types will have a few issues
of joining or hosting a session. And Strict NAT type will still somewhat allow you to join or host but sometimes doesnt always connect. When you test your NAT type and its not open or moderate to fix this youll have to reset your router then reconnect it to
your Xbox One.
