Please help with connecting a second wired controller

I have connected one controller and it's been assigned position 1 on both the console's power button and the controllers guide button and it is working great. I then go to connect another controller and it get's assigned exactly the same position instead
of position 2 or 3 or 4!!!! Thus I can only use one controller as they are being assigned the same position. Please help as to how I can get the second controller assigned to a different position on controller guide button and console power button.

If you are connecting your controller to this PC with a USB cable I would advise you to try using an alternate USB cable as some are only wired for charging and not data transfer. Also can you please try following the support guide below as this may help
you with connecting your controller.

I can't connect my second controller.

I just got the xbox one and i was able to connect my first controller. Now I'm trying to play Forza Motorsport 5 with two players, however ,I am having a hard time connecting a second controller. Someone please help.

 

First you should install the latest drivers from the official page:

www.microsoft.com/.../xbox-360-controller-for-windows

If you have a powered usb hub available, try connecting the controllers via that.
