Please help......IP & DNS issues stopping connection to the internet

Please help...I have been unable to connect my sons XBOX360 to our internet since yesterday.

The first issue was an IP address error message. Turned off router and restore factory settings and it seemed to resolve the situation re the IP address only for me to get a DNS message. One suggestion was to re-run the set up process which I tried and I
am now back to the IP address error message.

Honesty I don't know how many times I have turned off the router & XBox today but I think I amat risk of RSI!!

Any suggestions would most appreciated, but please do not assume any IT ability on my part.

Party Chat Not Working

I have had the same issue and resolved it this way:
Go to settings > network > test MP connection
Once I checked this I got some notification about the IP settings and did the following-
Set the IP Address to Auto
Set the DNS to auto
Set the last option, i think it was secondary MAC address, to clear.
Restart the console and my issues were all good and I was able to connect without anymore issues.

The issue is something with the secondary address limiting connectivity. As long as it is clear these problems should not exist and you should be able to enjoy chat with friends. Afterwards I had to set my chat not to occur through the kinect but that is easy to do. Go to kinect and uncheck the box about chat via Kinect.

Is it only your console you are having issues with?

Have you tried using a wired connection, to see if its a wireless issue?

Hi,

No DNS is not the issue here its just that you can't connect to the wireless network at all, until you can connect to the network it won't get an ip address or a DNS address, even if you manually enter an address it won't help because it isn't connected
to the wireless network.

The router issues the Xbox an ip address and DNS settings, but it won't until has connected to the network first which it can't at the moment.

Im having this same issue and ive tried everything as well 😕 except it connects me to the internet then disconnects and says cant find ip address or dns then it logs me out

Already tried with Google's DNS, checked my IP address but still no result. It won't connect from network to internet. My laptop's internet is working fine, still no connection.

My internet service provider IS: Infostrada

The strange thing all the settings are correct on xbox and router with port forward on xbox ip.

and the error message say's something like this: you can't connect to xbox live please restart your router.

not the typical errors of IP,NETMASK,MTU,DNS
