Please fix the october changes.

Even if i was willing to accept the mentality of paying money needlessly to fix an issue that previously wasn't an issue untill it was turned into one.. I couldn't anyway. Xbox one kinects aren't sold separately where i am. I'd have to buy an entirely new
xbox one console just to get a kinect.

Even if i could buy one by itself, i won't. Why would i possibly give MORE money to a company who are proving once again they only know how to provide a bad service? If microsoft wants my money, they can *** well earn it not sabotage my non-kinect experience
by making it more annoying, i'd be more likely to take my xbox one console, and throw it at that Don what's-his-face's head and tell him why i might switch to PS4.

 

If you're thinking you're going to get a better service via the competition, then I have news for you!

Oh, and it's my understanding that the stand-alone Kinect isn't selling anywhere as of yet - at least not through official channels.

IMO, though, XBL is NOT a bad service and they haven't sabotaged anything. If anything, they've made the non-Kinect experience A LOT better than it was and it is still improving every month.

...but to each their own. You take your own risks. I'm suitably happy with what I have here.

I hate doing this but it's my pet peeve......

For someone using a controller to navigate the UI the competition is significantly better. Why? Because it's simple and it's intuitive.

I can't count the number of times I've launched apps or games by hitting my B button on the controller when all I was trying to do was back out of something. I was playing around the preview/survey/quest stuff the other night and was getting bounced all
over the place.

Good UI's don't have a learning curve. The fact that we see thread after thread of people not understanding how to do things should be a red flag that things need to be changed.

 

That's due to your ignorance and not learning how to use it properly, Randver. B is not actually used to "back out" but rather is used to take you to the last thing you were doing. If you want to "back out" you have to hit the Xbox button in the middle of
your controller to go home.

While I do agree that it does have a learning curve, it's not as hard as people make it out to be and there are tutorials to help mitigate the ignorance. If it makes you feel better, I had trouble navigating the PS4 menus when I first tried it. :|

We define "back out" differently. Your "last thing you were doing" is "back out" to me. Example....Going to the store, clicking on a game for details, hit B to go back to store.

Hitting B at the dashboard with the Store in my "big box" just launched my TV. Hitting B at the Home screen should do nothing. I should need to choose my next app/game/etc from there, not launch something that I don't want simply because I hit B one to many
times.

I stand by my statement....good UI's don't have a learning curve or need tutorials. As far as you having trouble navigating the PS4's menu.....you're a smart guy GG and anyone who's owns a PS4 will call shenanigans on that.

Consoles options are always in the same place. Installed games/app are in order from most recent to least recent. One button starts app, another brings up options for game/app. Open apps have a small spinning circle to remind you it's still running. No tutorial,
no learning curve.....just simplicity.

 

Randver, regarding my use of the PS4, I only used it for ~5 minutes.

Going from telling users to buy a stupid kinect to resolve a problem that was JUST MADE, and then defending it claiming it's an improvement and calling my opinion wrong. To then trash tralking the other console that you've CLEARLY learned oh so much about
in your ~5minutes of playing while at the same time admitting there's a learning curve for this one..

Either that or you're the living manifestation of the stupid update.. Switching back and forth between the game and app focus used to be seamless.. but now? "Are you sure?" "are you sure?" "we know in the past you like to just switch back instantly but know
we've downgraded our service to treat you like a total idiot and ask for confirmation upon confirmation of routine inputs"

Achievements pop up? Hold button to view.. *holds to view* *ahcievements app SLOWLY loads* *Waiting..........* *Tries to switch focus back to game* "ARE YOU SURE YOU WISH TO PLAY THE GAME RIGHT NOW? REMAINING WITH FOCUS ON ACHIEVEMENTS COULD BE MORE INSTERESTING"

Yes, i am completely sure, sure that anyone who came up with this idea is a fool. Anyone who defends this idea is a fool. anyone who dares to tell me to buy a freaking kinect to resolve this bogus issue is a fool.

Now, i will say again, all i want is the *** option to disable this stupidity. Unless you're offering to buy me a kinect and send it to me, i will appreciate if you stopped trying to advertise it.

I'd hate to see how you'd defend places like mcdonalds.. customer gets food poisoning and you try to advertise an antidote when it shouldn't even come to that to begin with.
