Please fix the october changes.

You've made it even worse now.

Why did you move my friends/alerts/messages to it's own tab that i now have to shift over to when i could have quite easily just pressed the xbox home button and quickly view if anything pops up, and just move to the left ONCE if there is anything in it
to check?

Why did you have to add such a ridiculous third step to the snap to app feature? Before this "fix" you just had to simply double press the xbox home button to make it show up to access it quickly and efficiently, or hold it down if there was any invites
sent. Now? Now I have to double press it, and move in a direction after the stupid directional buttons slowly show up.. left to go to the game, up to go to snap to app or right to the last used app. if i am in a game and wish to quickly access it do i really
need this stupid third step slowing me?

It's even more annoying in the reverse, i unlock an achievement, i hold the button down to open my achievements to see what it was.. because the game doesn't pause, even for single player games while viewing things, i get attacked, and i'd double press the
home button to return back to controlling movement in the game, and just barely save myself.. but now? now i have that interface in the way ensuring i'm more likely to have my experience ruined by a pointless addition.

I'd appreciate having my game screen returned to the centre when i'm at the home menu, i don't think anyone in their right mind wants to be looking at a focus point from the side.. do you watch a movie where the screen is moved away from the centre view?
i don't think so. I'd appreciate having my friends/notifications back on the first tab where i can quickly see if i have any notices to check.. I don't care for this obscene animated friends scrolling... thing.. which only shows 1 person at a time.. do you
expect people to just stare at it the whole time untill it's finished scrolling your whole friend list? why remove something useful? Lastly i'd appreciate NOT having that third step when trying to snap to and from the game to my apps.. in fact.. i really have
to wonder the intelligence of someone who decided to add a prompt when double pressing the button "press up to snap or down to unsnap" when i could have just closed the *** thing with the 'B' button if i wanted to close it, because i just want to be able to
switch back to and from QUICKLY. Either remove it, or make it possible to turn off that stupidity.

The only 'good' thing out of this update so far is the "press X to record that" but i have to wonder.. did you even need to add that 3rd step or why not just add it to the snap an app feature alone. i don't even think 'X' is ever even used with it currently
so it could have fit.

With changes like this, i can now see why all my friends abandoned you for Playstation. Please stop fixing what isn't broken, and focus on being better not worse.

Any news on this? My activity feed hasn't updated since October 28:th! Please fix this as it begins to get really annoying!

 

Brand new xbox one noise

I can confirm the coil whine has gone from my console after downloading the October update many thanks MS took you long enough but a fix is a fix so I'm grateful. I always knew it was a software problem nice to be proven right for a change.

 

I anticipate more of these in the future...because anywhere from 1-5 thousand people request something in the feedback forums MS makes a change. Guess what, there are 5-6 million xbox one units out there...making drastic changes from such a small sample
size is going to ruffle feathers. If they are smart they would only make minor changes or changes that allow for optionality. Should be interesting to watch how this all works out in the future.

 

I think your a bit dramatic. This update to me was for those without kinect. Microsoft needs to support all of its users not just the ones who bought in the first six months. If you already use kinect or not, this doesn't really affect you. To your friend
that left for the other side, I feel bad for them. They will never know the joy of pushing the envelope or feeling the joy of true to progression.

 

You have a lackluster argument, I'm afraid. There are 2 incredibly easy solutions to your issue:

1) "Xbox, go to friends."

2) Pin the friends app to the left.

 

Can't say I'm incredibly impressed with that feature either but I've learnt to live with it. Id still like to see the party app actually show parties your friends are in.

 

@Burnin, I know, so many users not every change will be good, but some changes just seem very very bad no matter what. Like removing something from the front screen to it's own tab for no logical reason (it's still somewhat on the same screen but moved around
instead) Although Galactic Geek suggested a solution for that which i admit i was not even aware of being possible. That's why i'm more saying to try and fix it, originally when i first saw the update and its changes i was planning to write more of a "undo
it" topic but i can live with the friends list change, whether fixable or not by user, (again Galactic already suggested a way around this) but the third step menu for app snapping really makes it different for users like me without a kinect.

@Wic14, I honestly don't think i am being a bit dramatic at all. At least not for the snap to app changes. That's my main concern, the friends mention wasn't as urgent, and i'll even admit in my frustration i didn't even notice it does still indicate notifications
anyway, so i was definitaly hasty there. But i don't feel this change is any form of improvement for non-kinect users in the overall change. The 'Press X to record that' addition is really the only thing i can think of that seems to be a benefit. But what
i really would like is an option to disable that new menu that pops up after pressing the xbox button twice. I only ever used snap an app to use party chat, and to send game invites from party, or check achievements, pressing the button 2 times quickly is
good, but pressing it twice, then pressing in a certain direction? why can't it just let me press it twice to change from focusing on the game or the apps and let me handle the rest? Like i said, the only benefit here is that pressing x to record, but i think
it could have been better placed with the snap an app menu that currently existed (assuming x wasn't already given a function there, i'm still new to xbox one, but so far i've only ever needed 'A' and 'B' with the snap/app feature)

How exactly do i pin it? Before i go on with my complaint about the D-pad menu addition to snap/app i guess i'll see if you or anyone else knows a way to remove that then? That's ultimately what i really really wanted to achieve out of making this topic.

I guess i could have tried wording my topic much better so apologies to all who read for my incoherence with trying to express my frustration about this change.

^^I don't think the population of this thread is a good indicator of how many total users like/dislike the new update...

 

You should be able to find the friends app under the "apps" section of "your games and apps." Once there, simply highlight it and press the "menu" button on your controller. This will bring up a contextual menu. Highlight and select "pin to home." You can
then go back to your home screen and it will be on the left with any other pins you may have.

What's wrong with the snap-center? I think it works rather wonderfully!

 

@nightwish I do like the new friends tab but as an "older gamer" it baffles me how much time people spend worrying about these things. As I am older and I am used to buying a console to play the games it offers it seems to me that most people waste a huge
amount of time on the dashboard instead of enjoying all these great games. Again, don't mean to offend anybody just my opinion.

 

Idk if im old but im 24. So anything now is a big upgrade from when i was a kid

New updates never bother me. As long as they add and dont take away.

 

Don't worry so much, M releases a new system Update for Xbox 1 pretty much every month.

They in a way copied the FORMAT from Xbox 360's SOCIAL tab on Xbox 360's Dashboard, but with Xbox 1 if you want to view your avatar or your friends avatar, it's hidden in the Windows 8 styled UI app called Avatar App. It does look kind of flashy though the
tiles are alive especially in the Xbox 1's new Friends tab.

They need to make the Xbox 1 UI MORE youth friendly. It looks too Windows 8 and most of my friends and peps who I've met on XBL especially on 360 don't like the Windows 8 style. It looks more like for business peps. It's still a good idea to copy the 360
Dashboard format of a Friends tab on the Dashboard home screen (on Xbox 360 it's called Social).

1,000-3,000 may vote for voice messages or change dash background. Although there are a few million Xbox 1 consoles which have been manufactured, Microsoft doesn't need 50% of all active members on XBL (Xbox 360 and Xbox 1) to pass a vote. 1,000 LIVES are
important to M. We are people, not a statistics study.

 

@Galactic Geek, i'm having trouble figuring out how to explain it.. so i guess for now i'll just simply say i'll look into trying out that xbox recording system to try and show exactly what i mean. also i'm not used to the new control button names... i'm
guessing the 'menu' button is the former 'start' button?

@wic14, i only use my console for gaming too, but in online games, the party app is a huge benefit. one of the few things i actually like to use in the... snap centre? other than that i don't need to use it much but i just like being able to switch from
the game to the apps quickly. this change adds a new menu interface that leads to the snap centre which gets in the way, and my goal is to try to get it made optional, or if it already can be disabled someone can please tell me how.

Anyway i'll be back tommorow maybe, hopefully i'll be able to get a recording made in time to try and better express why i want to disable that D-pad directional menu that was added with this update without being asked why i don't want what is essentially
a second confirmation button akin to any game or software that when you click on the 'quit' button, it then asks you "are you sure?" "yes" "are you absolutely sure?" "YESSSSS" "okay, then you got it"
