Judging by the early numbers I think there will be a ton of people like me who moved from 360 to PS4 and PS Now is perfect for us. I think it's a very smart move for Sony and I can't wait to play TLOU, I've heard so much about it.
TLOU is awesome if they made a HD remake i would by it in a heartbeat

2. Microsoft will most likely have an answer, but I hope they don't because those resources could be put to better use. Microsoft have already streamed Halo 4 to Windows Phone and Windows PC. I'm interested to see how it works though.

Just saying, non BC compatible ps3's can now play PS2 games (For a while), the emulation is almost perfect on slims and cheaper phats.
so in other words we will get the same resolution that the boner plays next gen. interesting. also if you think that connection will matter here but not with the cloud you guys really are idiots.
Did I mention cloud services? No I didn't; though I expect the same results with the cloud as I do with PS Now-something that will not work well for me unless my ISP improves service and I don't see that happening anytime soon. I'm just adding in some
information that wasn't posted anywhere else in this thread, so that people are informed and can make their own minds up.

Yeah but both companies..MS and Sony can't make money if everyone can keep their games and play them. They make more money if they can resell you what you already have. I purchased Spryo off PSN before the X1 came out. I love that game on the PS1...played
it on the PS3 and wondered why did I just waste my money.
No offense, but I doubt you have any technical know how on how to make it work or not.
Why would I need to? There are operational emulators for both on x86.
They were.
PS2 played PS1 games because the PS1 CPU was the PS1's I/O chip. GS was used for graphics.
Original PS3s contained
entire PS2 chipsets. Later EU models contained the GS and emulated the EE. All that was dropped after a year.
Unless
someone has decided to increase the speed of light, the reasons it won't work out well are the same as they have been for years - network latency. The same reason SlingBox remote control isn't instantaneous is the same reason Gaikai, OnLive, GameTap, and others
are meh.

Increasing bandwidth reduces the latency that realtime encoding of video incurs - less compression, faster encoding. It still doesn't take care of the path from server to client latency. You'd have to live on top of a game server to have low enough latency
to make gaming like this enjoyable.
They are identical in function. They stream control from one end and video from the other.

nVidia and AMD both want to do the same thing. Both have products intended to make remote gaming possible. There is still latency. Getting around the physical distance limitation is not something every location will be able to do, and when it's not necessary
one has to question why.
Ok, dude...you win. All that technical gargin and yet one can play PS1 games on the PC....which we know is like the PS4.

.

Again....saying they are identical in function is like saying Ford and Toyota are the same car....when they're not. I'm sorry, but regurgitating technical crap that you've read but really know nothing about proves....well nothing.

.

I'm sure at one point ppl said...."cloud based whatchamacallit....you can't do that....games can only be played on a physical box". But you say innovation doesn't happen and things don't evolve and get quicker and better.....so I guess we'll never put a
man on Mars b/c....common, rocket fuel is all we will ever know and we won't ever add upon it to make space travel possible.

.

Now everyone 5 star the replied post so that I know how many ppl don't believe in evolving.

They dont need to respond to this, that kinda online game streaming is basically unplayable to anyone serious about games, the latency streaming games over the net ads is not worth even bothering with, not with todays internet infrastructure. Do you
know what OnLive is? yeah exactly.

I would just like to add that Titanfall will probably fail b/c it's multiplayer and since all things are the same no matter the difference....it'll be just another COD. B/c things don't change.

.

So theres the logic....the "fundamentally the same" one.

.

Again....the cloud thing is al good and well for what the X1 is doing....but not for PSNow.

Like everything, I am on a wait and see (regardless of company or tech). I usually investigate things before buying and using an item or service. Cloud gaming is a cool concept. I see so many people complaining about lag and hit detection with current consoles/tech....streaming
is going to be a whole lot worse. Maybe this will work with arcade and single player RPG but how will it do with a full lobby of players each with a wide variance of connections/latency in a FPS?? We'll see, only time will tell.

12. First the PS4 sold over 4.2 millions consoles and now they just released PlayStation Now. Micorsoft really needs to step their game up.

Just saying, non BC compatible ps3's can now play PS2 games (For a while), the emulation is almost perfect on slims and cheaper phats.
How?
Sony managed to complete a PS2 emulator for
the Cell. It does not work with discs, only with games that they certify and then sell on PSN. The games are self-contained - there's no memory card support other than the one that the emulator creates so there's no way to swap virtual memory cards the way
original PS3s can.

If you see a "PS2 Original" in the PSN store, that's an original title running using an emulator.
Ok, dude...you win. All that technical gargin and yet one can play PS1 games on the PC....which we know is like the PS4.
That's what
I've said. That's why Gaikai/PS Now is a bad choice.
No car analogies.

OnLive/GameTap and PS Now do the same thing - put a game server on one end and a remote client on the other. They're the gaming version of Remote Desktop, the difference being that remote desktop is not anywhere near as latency sensitive as gaming.
It's not a question of if it works, it's a question of how well it works. How well it works is determined by physical location
of the client relative to the server. That's something a person who lives far away cannot "fix".

It's funny, people complain about the Xbox One DRM system, yet they give Sony a free pass on having to rebuy/subscribe to stream games that they probably already own. Adding insult to injury, Sony's been making people re-buy their titles for years and continues
to do so under the guise of "PS2 Originals". The PS4 could support PS1 and PS2 games with little effort, but instead they're focused on taking people's money yet again to play games for a console we just replaced.

If you think this will be "free", I have this example of
PSP UMD to Digital
that Sony ran only in Japan, and still charged people for. My PSP games that are PS Vita compatible? Yeah... can't use them because I'm in the USA and they're on UMD.
I would just like to add that Titanfall will probably

I've stated why remote gaming is a problem. That you refuse to recognize this and handwave it away with, "but technology advances" doesn't change the fact that light didn't get faster between when OnLive/GameTap launched and today.

Ok, ok......you win. Everyone plays old PS1 games on PC and however they play PS2 games is fine right now. Theres no one who is excited for it.

.

I guess all the ppl over on the PSU forums are faking it.

.

And the fact that you so-called, called me out with the strawman crap....and didn't realize the absurdity in it which was the mocking of your abusrdity.....well, maybe you're the one using strawmen since you seem to think it's a pointless venture.

.

Again....cloud based gaming or whatever it is that MS is using for their system.....everyone is on the bandwagon about....but since it's being used by Sony....nope....it's just a bad thing to invest in.

Well, the hope for backwards compatibility is probably higher than any of those things listed.

I'm not really holding my breath for this stuff. Nobody has done it properly in the past and Sony isn't exactly who I hold on a very high podium when it comes to online services. It probably works well for some people who have good enough internets and close
enough to the servers, but I don't see this being that awesome for majority of customers. Even the PS4 games on Vita on local Wifi is a cool idea and apparently even that doesnt really work all that well unless you sit on the wireless transmitter. Same apparently
goes for the WiiUs similar system, once you leave the room the WiiU is in, it stops being a great feature playstion now, whats xbox going to answer with? :p

And we have to remember that local WiFi is typically miles ahead of what most peoples actual interets are capable of.
As some one who has a Vita and tried remote play, it works pretty well honestly. I've played at my friend's house and had no issues and more impressive, I went to visit my parents across the country (my ps4 being in Seattle) and tried it there expecting
it not to work. It worked. Though I will say it doesn't always connect and there is a small amount of lag (not bad enough though to keep me from putzing around AC IV). Really I'm just impressed it even works this far across the country.

And Wii U has to be near the console I believe (It won't work over wi-fi, only through direct connection. Vita will work over wi-fi/internet but Sony does make the disclaimer that it works best as a direct connection or at least within the same wi-fi router
and the farther you are from the PS4 the more chance it won't work or won't work well).

My worry is that eventually Sony will just get rid of even having a console and go to just offering a streaming service. I'm hoping they still have plans for actually having hardware to run games (I personally would prefer not to stream for my main gaming solution
honestly. Though admittedly I may use Playstation Now for playing TLOU on my Vita and hopefully finally get to play Fallout on my Vita if they get third party support <- only way that will ever happen playstion now, whats xbox going to answer with? ;). I am fully aware Bethesda is never going to develop
for the Vita).

Anyways, not sure if MS has to answer but I do think it's a nifty idea and one of the things Sony is doing right (too bad they can't get their other sections to be doing as well as PS, PS will not keep Sony afloat and Sony needs to do some big changes in a
lot of their other departments).

Heh, it's funny, I feel between all the rumors of who is going to "leave the gaming scene", Nintendo is the one least in danger of that despite having the least succesful current gen console. They aren't in a really bad position like Sony is (don't mistake
having a failing console for the whole company failing) and gaming is their business so they don't have investors like MS who don't think the gaming section makes enough money to justify putting money into it.
