At some point you have to get rid of your older games or you end up on an episode of Hoarders ;p Thankfully I've gone all digital on the PC but between my 360, PS3, PS2, DS, PSP, Vita I've still got over a 1000 games and I sold a bunch of 360 games prior to
the One release.

It is a bad thing if by catering to a larger audience you lose many of your core audience. I have friends that I don't consider gamers that picked up a One for the multimedia aspects of the console, they'll probably buy a dozen or so games a year. I have friends
that played last gen on the 360 (who are gamers) who have moved over to the PS4 or in most cases gone strictly PC. My One has already turned into an extension of my TV and if I had more HDMI ports it would probably never get turned on. My PS4 is used for all
cross platform.

Why did Microsoft lose me? I hate the fluff. I don't want to "snap", I don't want DVR, I don't want Kinect, I want simple and I don't have it. I think it's obvious from my gamercard I'm not a Sony fanboy so they have lost a "gamer" as a customer and it'll take
a dozen casual/family console buyers to recoup what I would normally spend in a year.
1,000 games!? And I thought I was a gamer with 300+. =P

They may have lost some consumers due to the transition to the new console, but that's only natural, especially with competition. 3 million sold & counting tells me either a) they haven't lost their core audience or b) they're more than making up for it.
You also shouldn't forget those that choose to stay with the 360 - MS still profits from their business. In regards to the "fluff" - everything you mentioned is optional & doesn't have to be used. Sure you may not like it or use it or may even have other means
of accessing those features, but if you don't use them (or use other means as with the latter case) then of course you're not going to get your money's worth. However for someone like me who finds those features fun or intuitive or who lacks alternative means,
can greatly benefit - the value then becomes worth it. In the end, it's subjective to your needs & wants. As for your final point, you're right - what you may not realize is that for every "1 of you" they've lost, they've probably gained 5 dozen casual/family
console buyers.

@Burnin, think you are taking it a bit literally haha. I was more just using FPS as a type of game. If you like change FPS with say Puzzle games or Platforming Playstation Now announcement. Sound Familiar? :)

Also people need to look at the service as something that your non traditional gamer could use. Someone buys a new Bravia TV that has this app loaded or available. In the box comes a 30 day trial for this service and bam people are playing games that normally
wouldn't want an additional box under their TV. The Netflix of gaming which "could" be the next big thing.

3. With used games & older consoles, it'll likely save you more money by getting the real deal instead. In addition, you can trade them & not have to worry about your connection speeds.

All depends on the person and their situation really. Not sure how buying old consoles and games is more cost effective if you have the set-up to make this work? Monthly sub for a library of games at your finger tips...

Anyway not saying this service is a winner but can just see the potential and you know other will follow if it works. End of the day more people playing games the better. This will just be one less barrier to entry lowered.

Funny thing is, so many come in these forums complaining that Microsoft is going "casual" and is leaving the "true gamer" out in the cold....PS Now in my opinion is for casual gamers, true/hardcore gamers for the most part will have played or will still
own older games/consoles and will likely not want to pay again for them....

We either have a different definition of "older games and consoles" or I'd have to disagree.

I played Chrono Trigger when it was new and would play it again in a heartbeat. The game came out in 1995 ( probably before some of the people posting here were born ). I still have a PS2 hooked up but my PS is long dead and I own only a hand full of games
for it anyway. Allowing me to stream it along with all the FF's, Diablo 1, Breath of Fire, etc would be great.

Most casual gamers won't want anything to do with the older games on either platform once they realize that games used to be hard, we didn't have checkpoints every 10 seconds and we actually had to read a manual.

I'm not sure why several of you are getting so bent out of shape about this being discussed here.

It's relevant. There is a bunch of people in these forums telling us how great the One will be after updates, etc and remember what the 360 was like when it was released, etc and now we have something that Microsoft needs to be looking into and are discussing
it. It's something exactly like this that will make the One a better console.

I'd like to see Microsoft stream 360 arcade titles and maybe even some of the original Xbox games. Sony does it first and now the topic is off limits?

game rental systems in hotel rooms....sure, there are likely many old games that are not easy to play, we'll see which and how many are going to be available for this service....Everyone seems to think it will be a complete catalogue of every game made, is
that true?? I am not saying this is a horrible plan or idea for Sony, I just don't see it being some huge success, and I don't see it gaining a lot of traction with the "true or hardcore" gamer....

Game streaming doesn't work well. The laws of physics have seen to that.
It's been a bad option well before Sony. I listed

several earlier attempts

Bandwidth != latency. Latency is the problem.

I think the service will live or die on how the subscriptions work. If I could choose to pay for a single game or all the way up to everything available then I'd be keen. Would be cool to be able to subscribe to just FPS games or Adventure games or even
just a franchise like Uncharted. Maybe even just a developer such as Naughty Dog or Sony Santa Monica. Then the service could offer suggestions going by what I like. Hmm this could be awesome!!!

Also MS have already shown Halo 4 running on a Surface so are obviously toying with similar ideas.

Why is anything Sony-related even in this forum? Are they similar? Yes. The same? No. There, end of discussion. Move on (or take it to Sony's forums)...
Thread was started by a Microsoft "fanboy" that backfired on him and now we have to drop the subject?

It's actually very relevant to Microsoft. There are many like myself who feel Microsoft is going the wrong direction and catering to the casual/multimedia crowd rather than the gamers that helped them get to where they are. Maybe they should seriously consider
streaming 360 arcade titles and Xbox games, when it's all said and done I think it'll be the gaming community that makes or breaks the One.
MS never stopped catering to gamers, they simply added more to cater to a larger audience - that is not a bad thing. As for older games, if you still want to play them, why get rid of them in the 1st place? In regards to your last point, the gaming
community will ALWAYS make or break ANY gaming console.
