playing xbox games offline

Hi All,

We are currently on holiday with no internet or phone reception. We brought our 2nd xbox one with us, but it asks to connect to internet for updates no matter what game we try and play. I bought a new disk game today and it installed OK, but still will not let us play and just brigs up a screen to connect to internet.

I have set the xbox to offline mode, but it doesn't make any difference. Can anyone give me some advice? Surely it is not a requirement to connect to internet to play?

Set your console to offline and then install/play the game unless the game is already installed.

Most of the time the stuff you download off the Xbox 360 market will not play offline. I know you can't play Arcade games or Indie games offline (that's why you can't play Minecraft offline), I haven't checked if Xbox Games on Demand work offline, but I
assume that they also don't. Since the license of the game is on your Xbox 360 you would have no problem playing the same game on other profiles.

If the game has an offline mode or "campaign" you can play that offline but this specific game can't be played offline as it's an always online game and requires gold membership.
